Frequently Asked Questions about the event.


WHAT IS THE REGISTRATION FEE TO ATTEND THE CONFERENCE?

A limited number of complimentary seats on first come first serve basis are
reserved for Architects, Façade Consultants, Developers, Government Officials,
Project Management Consultants, Main Contractors, Sustainability Consultants,
Fire Consultants, Façade Contractors, Cost Consultants, etc. The online
registration process needs to be followed to attain your entry pass for the
event. Please note that the complimentary seats allocation are under the
jurisdiction of the organizers. If you are a product/material supplier and
intend to attend the conference, there would be a delegate fee of GBP 500 + VAT
applicable per delegate.

IS THE ONLINE REGISTRATION THE FINAL STEP?

The online registration acts as an “Interest” for attending the conference. An
internal system evaluates the registrations received and issues the
confirmation/entry pass accordingly. The online registration alone DOES NOT
stand confirmed without a confirmation/entry pass email from the organizers.

HOW LONG DOES TO IT TAKE TO RECEIVE THE CONFIRMATION/ENTRY PASS POST THE ONLINE
REGISTRATION?

If successfully approved, the confirmation number/pass is sent within 3-4
working days of registration or earlier. It is advisable to check your spam/junk
folders as there maybe chances of the email landing in those folders. If you
have not received your confirmation within the stipulated timeframe, please
write to the organisers/reply on the acknowledgment email to check on the
status.

CAN I USE MY PERSONAL ID TO REGISTER?

It is highly recommended that you use your company/official email id for
registration to avoid any confirmation delay

CAN I REGISTER AT THE VENUE DIRECTLY?

No. All registrations are pre-approved online and no on-spot registrations are
encouraged.

I RECEIVED AN INVITATION FROM ONE OF THE SPONSORS. DOES IT QUALIFY AS ENTRY
PASS?

The invitation copy from the sponsors DOES NOT qualify as the entry pass. The
invite mentions the registration process at the last page. All the recipients of
these invitation copies are advised to follow the online registration process to
attain their passes to be able to attend the event.

CAN THE REGISTRATION BE TRANSFERRED TO ANOTHER COLLEAGUE FROM THE SAME
ORGANISATION?

No. If you are not able to attend the conference after receiving your
confirmation number/pass you will not be able to transfer the registration to
your colleague.

WHAT DO WE NEED TO BRING/SHOW AT THE REGISTRATION DESK TO COLLECT THE DELEGATE

The registrations start at 0800 hrs. The team at the registration desk will be

Post the conference, the organisers will be uploading all the presentations

WHAT ARE THE INCLUSIONS IN A FULL DAY CONFERENCE SESSION?

The full-day conference will include access to the conference hall, exhibit
area, lunch and networking session, delegate kits and presentation copies.

WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM LIMIT OF COMPLIMENTARY PASSES PER FIRM?

If your firm is on our guest list, then a maximum of 1-4 delegates passes per
firm are allocated depending on the firm size. However, the seat allocation is
on first come first serve basis.

WHEN IS THE FINAL DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION?

As the seats are allocated on a first come first serve basis, the registration
will close once the hall seating capacity is reached.

WHAT ARE THE PRECAUTIONS IN PLACE FOR COVID-19?

Apart from the high standard hygiene protocols and checks from the Mercure

Chris Davis has responsibility for product management of the H.B.Fuller /
Kömmerling Liquid Optically Clear Adhesive range of products for glass
lamination. He has been in his current role at H.B.Fuller / Kömmerling since
2012 working in the building product sector within the Façade Business
development team. His role requires close liason with existing and prospective
LOCA customers to assist both in business and product development. He works
closely with building industry designers, engineers and academic institutions to
understand shifts in market and regulatory requirements. Communicating these
changes to internal technical and business functions is a key component of his
role.

Previous to joining H.B.Fuller / Kömmerling Chris managed specialist lamination
production facilities for Pilkington United Kingdom Ltd before joining the

Chris Thompson has been involved in the passive fire protection industry for
over 20 years.

He has extensive experience in the R&D, fire testing, certification and
development of passive fire protection and firestopping materials for the
construction market. This includes the design, installation and witnessing of
multiple fire resistance tests to ASTM, UL, BS and EN fire test standards with
UK, European and US based fire test laboratories. As well as fire testing of
products for use in fire rated walls, floors and ceilings, there has been a
particular focus on the fire testing of cavity fire barrier products and
external wall systems in recent years.

He is also an active member of the Association for Specialist Fire Protection

Hendrik Köster has a wealth of experience in product management that he has

Masters in Engineering Management from the University of Münster and his BA in

Michael Cambden is an Architect Director at BDP, one of the UK’s largest
multidisciplinary design practices. For the past fifteen years he has focused on

A talented designer and hands-on director, Michael draws on his experience

Naoki has extensive specialist façade experience in design and technical

Nick Colledge is the co-leader of Arup's Façade Engineering team in Manchester.
He has been with Arup for over ten years.

Nick has a keen interest in building envelope design for sustainability,

He started his career as a mechanical engineer, which enhances his facade

Rob Swift studied engineering at Sheffield Hallam University, obtaining
bachelor’s degree before going on to achieve master’s degree in Advanced

Sandra Scolastra is the co-leader of Arup's Façade Engineering team in
Manchester. She has been with Arup for over ten years.

Sandra combines structural engineering skills, detailed knowledge of façades and
multidisciplinary coordination skills to provide solutions that meet both the
architectural intent and the client's business objectives, particularly for
projects with challenging budgets. With 17 years of façade consultancy
experience in the UK, Sandra's work includes Salford Central, Manchester
Metropolitan University Arts and Humanities, several high-rise residential
re-cladding projects, Kuwait International Airport, GES-2 House of Culture in
Moscow, and many other prestigious residential, commercial and mixed-use
developments, in the UK and internationally.

Sandra has a growing interest in how zero waste in construction can be achieved,
using circular economy principles, re-using materials, and designing out waste
at every project stage. She also actively promotes biophilic design through
green facades.

Business Development Manager, Eastman

Stéphanie Godard is working at Eastman as the Business Development Manager for
the Advanced Interlayers group in Europe. She is in responsible of overseeing
the relations with the architects and the façade engineers, providing an
experience of over 20 years with glass and laminated glass in particular.

With a background in Chemical Engineering and Advanced Chemical Technology from
the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, Stéphanie has
been providing support to glass laminators in the UK, Scandinavia, and France
for many years. She now brings her passion for glass to the architectural
specifying community, offering training and relevant information on high
performance laminated glass made with Saflex® and Vanceva® interlayers. She is
based in France.

Stephen Tanno graduated from The University of Southampton in 1987 and worked as
a Consulting Engineer for the next 16 years, including 5 years with Ove Arup in
Sydney and 8 years as Group Director with Buro Happold, where he founded the
Façade Engineering Group, in London. In 2003 he joined Schneider GB Ltd
initially as UK Technical Director and later as UK Managing Director guiding the
company to become a market leader. In 2011 He joined Seele GmbH as Projects
Director, and in 2015 he joined Schueco International as Director of
Pre-Constructions Services.

He is a chartered engineer in both the UK and Australia and has a consistent
track record of leading and delivering complex and bespoke high quality
projects. He is a lateral thinker and has an all-round appreciation for design,
engineering, and build-ability. He has extensive knowledge of project delivery
from initial planning and design stages right through construction and handover.
In recent years Stephen has collaborated with numerous architects to develop
sustainable and functional façade designs that went on to be implemented to a
realistic budget through a reliable delivery mechanism by close collaboration
with façade contractors.

RHODRI EVANS

Façade Consultant, Billings Design Associates

Principle of Billings Design Associates Dublin. Rhodri has collaborated with
them since 2016 and is a registered architect and Member of the Society of
Façade Engineering.

Rhodri has worked on the detailed design, testing and installation of
prestigious projects such as MECD Manchester with Mecanoo, BDP and Balfour
Beatty and Manchester’s SODA with FCB Studio.

Rhodri has worked on the design specification and delivery of major residential
projects including Once Crown Place, One Nine Elms with KPF and the Wardian with
Glenn Howells in London. With over 30 years of experience he has worked on super
prime office projects such as 100 Liverpool Street with Hopkins architects. His
experience includes international collaboration and experience with specialist
façade sub contractors in China and Europe. Building typologies include
residential pencil towers, higher education super prime office and mixed use
including retail. Façade package values range from £10 m to £70m.

John Goudie is senior technical figure working for Bowmer + Kirkland who have
been busy helping to shape the skyline of Manchester over the last two decades.
Johns has over 20 years’ experience with both design and on site project
management positions an now uses this knowledge and experience to help deliver
some of the North West most ambitious facade schemes and thrives on working up
details to push the boundaries of what is perceived possible. The focus of Johns
projects recently have been on key higher education developments and tendering
projects as part of our pre-construction team at Bowmer + Kirkland.

LISA FERNANDES

Associate Director, AECOM

Lisa has 15 years of experience working in the facade industry both in
consultancy and contractor environments. She has a solid understanding of
fundamental design principles, her repertoire lends itself to all sectors of the
discipline, completing projects both in the UK and international. These
experiences have allowed Lisa to build a portfolio ranging from design and
analysis to managing the Contractor tender process from a technical perspective.
Lisa has a keen interest in envelope design for building performance with
notable projects in her portfolio including 1 New Street Square, Art O’tel,
Hoxton, Tate Modern II and the double curved atrium roof to the University of
London’s SOAS Building.

Gurprit has a background in all areas of facades, having begun as a draughtsman
for a number of Façade Subcontractors, eventually moving to an aluminium systems
company, a modular building consultancy and is currently an Associate Director
at Wintech Ltd, a large independent Façade Consultancy. At Wintech he has been
involved with many high-profile projects and clients and is their sustainability
lead. Gurprit has a Master’s degree in Façade Engineering from the University of
Bath and is a Member of the Society of Façade Engineering within CIBSE.

ROSS BOWMAN

Associate, Hawkins\Brown

Ross Bowman is an Architect and Associate at Hawkins\Brown. For the last few
years, he has been focussed on the delivery of two of the practice’s larger
projects including Crossrail Tottenham Court Road station for London’s Elizabeth
Line and a high-rise build-to-rent scheme in Stratford’s East Village.

Ross is an advocate for modern methods of construction as a means of speeding up
construction whilst maintaining high build quality, and how digital
collaboration methods can help to streamline the coordination process within
large multidisciplinary teams.

MERL FORRER

Associate | Fire Engineer, Design Fire Consultants

Merlyn Forrer joined Design Fire Consultants in May 2019 after serving as an
operational Station Manager with Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service
(GMFRS) with 20 years’ service. Between 2012 and 2017, Merlyn moved into fire
safety responsible for Manchester borough, providing fire safety and enforcing
the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 for one of the largest and most
complex metropolitan boroughs in the UK. Between 2017 and 2019, Merlyn has been
working for the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) on the response, updating
guidance and national codes following the Grenfell fire tragedy.

He graduated from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) with Master’s
degree in Fire Engineering (distinction), is a member of the Society of Fire
Protection Engineers and is a Fellow of the Institution of Fire Engineers,
FIFireE. His research for both his Bachelors and Masters dissertations focussed
on the fire performance of externally thermally insulated cladding systems and
the use of organic polymer foams which he continues to research.

Through his project work, involvement on committees, interaction with peers,
regulators and building control authorities, Merlyn has detailed knowledge and
experience of fire safety engineering, legislation and guidance document
interpretation, application and enforcement. This includes fire spread on the
external walls of buildings with a detailed understanding of the intent of
regulations and guidance.

Merlyn is regular speaker at conferences and seminars on fire safety and
regulations. Merlyn has also authored papers on external fire spread,
development of regulations and Firefighter safety.
