AT&T was forced to do some layoffs. “I heard rumors, but never thought they’d
mess with the marketing people.” But they did, and he was cut.

DREW BENTON

Drew Benton joined the Gateway Center team in May of 2022. Drew has been a
leader in the non-profit community since 2000. His career began in traditional
ministry, serving as a student pastor and college pastor. In 2003, Drew launched
a speaking ministry called Refuge Ministries. Through Refuge Ministries, he
traveled and spoke to thousands of teenagers and adults across the country and
in Germany.

Drew then took a short time away from “traditional ministry leadership,” sensing
he had some personal development that he needed to do first. It was during this
time he learned the extreme importance of “living love.” Not just preaching and
teaching love, but finding ways to tangibly show love to others.

In 2006, Drew met a man named Philip Bray, Founder and Executive Director
of SafeHouse Outreach. The two began a friendship that led to Drew volunteering
at SafeHouse. That volunteer position grew into a full time Director position
with SafeHouse Outreach in 2007. The next three years were spent serving and
loving homeless men and women of Atlanta. Drew’s life and career were
transformed during his time serving at SafeHouse. He was able to live love to
people in need in very real and tangible ways. Where people were hungry, he
could provide food. Where people were thirsty, he could provide water, and so
much more.

In 2009, Drew stepped away from SafeHouse Outreach to found Project Live Love,
an organization dedicated to influencing the culture with the concept of
“love-in-action.” Under his leadership, Project Live Love developed many
successful events and programs including THREE- OH-WE-GO, LIVE LOVE EVENTS, and
GET SET. Through these events and programs, Drew activated over 8,000
individuals to show their love to others affecting the lives of over 25,000
people in need.

In 2019, Drew returned to SafeHouse Outreach as the Director of Operations. He
served there for two and a half years until departing to accept a position as
the Director of Community Engagement and Volunteer Services at Gateway Center.

GREG CALLIHAN

Greg Callihan is a life-long Georgian who has been involved in facilities
maintenance for almost 20 years. He began working part-time in the apartment
industry doing light maintenance work while on his spring and summer breaks from
college. This part-time work led to his first experience working with persons
just coming out of homelessness at The Welcome House. Greg spent over five years
working at Welcome House, and became the Service Manager there -leading a team
of maintenance and housekeeping employees. His experience there –working with
people who had just gotten housing after living on the streets- created a desire
to work more directly with people who were still homeless.

Greg became the Maintenance Director of The ROCK, a homeless resource center in
downtown Atlanta. He held this position until The ROCK merged into The Gateway
Center in July 2005. Greg has been working at Gateway since before the doors
opened for clients –he directed numerous teams in coordinating furniture
donations and deliveries prior to Gateways grand opening. He has held the same
position at Gateway while working for three companies –first through PCCI, then
part of the Ohio Equities team, and finally as a Gateway employee starting in
August 2009.

While in college, Greg was pursuing a degree in Biblical Studies with a
specialization in missions. Although he is not a missionary in any standard
sense of the word, Greg views his work as part of the mission field. He enjoys
his role as behind-the-scenes support for the incredible staff at The Gateway
Center.

TRICIA CALLIHAN

Tricia Callihan is the Director of Resource Development at Gateway Center, which
is a homeless resource center in downtown Atlanta. She began her career with
Gateway Center in 2018 as a Development Specialist and transitioned into her
current role at the end of 2020. As the Director of Resource Development, she
oversees all fundraising efforts, including grant submission, fundraising
events, and individual, corporate, and foundation donor cultivation. Tricia
earned a Masters in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University in
2000. She is committed to raising awareness regarding the barriers individuals
and families who are experiencing homelessness encounter as they seek to
transition to stable housing. After working in corporate America for 14 years,
Tricia is thankful for the opportunity to serve in a capacity that makes a
difference in the community she calls home.
