I began my art career with lots of questions about acrylics.




The problem was, I couldn't find anyone to guide me! Every workshop I took was
in oil, and I'd have to translate what I learned for my medium.




I vowed not to make anyone else have to figure it all out as I did. 




And that's how Acrylic University began. Our mission is to "bring beauty to the
world by helping artists flourish."

AU is an amazing opportunity to truly study painting and put those concepts to
work for you with methodologies that work. There are comprehensive modules on
all the fundamentals that are necessary to develop as an artist and then lots
more for fine tuning your skills. The 101 modules are logically approached to
guide your development. You can systematically work through from one lesson to
another, but you also have the option to hop around to get the information you
need when you want it. The system keeps track of what you’ve watched - which is
wonderful. The set-up is built to accommodate artists at any experience level.
Whenever I’m about to tackle something that’s new for me or for when I want to
see how someone else tackles a topic, I head to the library and sure enough
there’s a lesson or two (or 3) to help me prepare - that’s so incredibly
valuable. The weekly video sessions are terrific as there’s something new and
refreshing to explore each Friday. This helps to keep your painting practice
exciting and not just about completing lessons. The community is wonderful as
well. It’s a safe place to show your work, share ideas, ask questions, or to ask
for feedback on something you’ve painted.

I am a lifetime member of AU and so pleased I signed on. The online communities
in AU are totally helpful and encouraging. The instructors are all excellent and
offer teaching unique to their style and experience. There are various
memberships offered from month-by-month to lifetime, several challenges by
different artists that provide weekly demos so you can paint a 6x6 miniature
each week, monthly guest artists, a library full of videos and instruction and
so much more. AU has my highest recommendation if you are in the market for

Of all the groups I have seen and youtube lessons taken....this group is far and
above!! Not only are there literally hundreds of lessons on AU but there is a
wonderfully helpful group of people on Facebook. Rather than simply tutorials
teaching you to paint a particular thing there are lessons teaching how to
handle acrylics, color theory, still life and landscape lessons and finding your
own artistic voice. While Jed Dorsey is the main teacher Dianna Shyne also does
lessons and it is incredible to be taught by artists of this caliber!! We also
have many guest artists that demo and artist interviews as well such as Teddi
Parker, Brian Buckrell and MANY MORE. THIS GROUP IS FOR BEGINNERS AND MORE
EXPERIENCED ARTISTS! I CANNOT RECOMMEND IT ENOUGH!! YOU GET SO MUCH MORE THAN
OTHER GROUPS OR LESSON TYPES!! AU also has mini challenges where we create 6x6
inch paintings to keep you painting every day. This is well worth the investment

Hi, AU is just more than watching videos. If you love art you will love AU
(acrylic university) I been an artist all my life ,now as a grown woman now. I
haven't touched a brush in a long while. I had health issue and i let life go
by. When I found AU it was the best thing that could of happened to me. It
pulled me out of my depression and I found my way back to drawing and painting.
I felt very alive and have a passion for my art now. AU community is like having
an extended family but we are all artist. The staff are very helpful. The
website has a lot of valuable information that once you are a member you can

   Acrylic University on a very user-friendly platform that anyone can navigate.

 * CAN I CANCEL ANYTIME?
   
   
   
   Yes, absolutely, you can cancel your subscription at any time. 
   
   
   If you cancel your subscription within 30 days, we will refund all of your
   money - no questions asked. We believe strongly in what we do and we want you

 * DO I NEED TO USE ACRYLIC PAINTS?
   
   
   
   The short answer is no. The vast majority of what we teach is foundational to
   all painting mediums. So, if you wanted to use oils, for instance, you would
   find most of the main principles are totally applicable to you, but there
   would just be some differences in technique as the mediums have different
   properties.
   
   
   The longer answer is that while you COULD use a different medium, there are
   SO many reasons to paint with acrylics!
   
    1. Water Cleanup: Acrylic paints clean up easily with water. You will never
       need to expose yourself or others to special solvents or thinners when
       you are using acrylic paints.
    2. Fast Drying: I love the fact that I can touch my paintings after a short
       time and not worry about getting wet paint on myself or what's around me.
       This makes it much easier to store and transport paintings without all
       the headache you'd have if they were still wet. Also, when I want to make
       a change to a painting I can do it quickly.
    3. Super Versatile: Acrylic paints can be applied to almost any surface
       because they adhere so well. They can also be applied very thin and
       transparent or very thick and impasto-like without having to worry about
       rules like "thick over thin" because of their quick drying properties.
       Acrylic paintings are easy to frame because they don't need to be
       protected with glass.
    4. Cost Effective: Acrylic paints are fairly inexpensive when compared to
       other mediums. This means that you can paint and practice with freedom
       without being too concerned about cost.
    5. Travel Easily: Because they are non-toxic and don't require fancy
       thinners, you can travel the world with your acrylic paints and never
       worry about boarding a plane with hazardous materials.
