general admission, free for kids 10 and under. 3425 Civic Center Drive,

kids 12 and under with a paying adult. 31300 Metro Parkway, Harrison

fill of seasonal beers in the Bier Garden, visit the Kinderplatz for kids’
activities like magic shows and bounce houses, shop vendor booths, and
more. Sept. 15-16. $10. Downtown Saline; salinemainstreet.org.

ROMULUS PUMPKIN FESTIVAL

Head to Romulus Historical Park for the Parade of Lights and a street festival
that features music, food, crafts, and games. Expect a classic car show and a
craft vendor show, too. Sept. 15-17. No cost to attend. 11147 Hunt St.,
Romulus; romulusgov.com.

LYSISTRATA BY ARISTOPHANES

This comedy tells the story of a woman who is weary of the Peloponnesian war and
launches a campaign to end the fighting by withholding sex from all men. Sept.
15-30. $22 in advance, $25 at the door. Planet Ant Black Box, 2357 Caniff,
Hamtramck; eventbrite.com.

ROUGE PARK BUFFALO SOLDIERS AND BLUES FREEDOM FESTIVAL

The Friends of Rough Park hosts this event to highlight the history of the
all-Black U.S. Army units, the Buffalo Soldiers. Enjoy pony rides and museum and
barn tours along with live music, food, and lawn games. Sept. 16. Free to attend
but advance registration is required. Rouge Park Horse Barn, 8886 Lahser Road,
Detroit; rougepark.org.

FRANKENFEST

Ghouls, monsters, and even Frankenstein himself roam downtown Detroit during
this chilling festival, which hosts mystical artwork, scary literary vendors,
and paranormal experts. Enjoy this unique event for a ghostly time at the
Historic Fort Wayne. Sept. 16. No cost to attend. 6325 W. Jefferson Ave.,
Detroit; frankenfest.com.

DURAN DURAN

Get ready for an ’80s throwback when this beloved English new-wave act stops at
Little Caesars Arena to support its latest studio album, Future Past. Inducted
into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, the band released a slew of
influential hits in the early 1980s, including “Rio” and “Hungry Like the Wolf”
— the latter of which won the group a Grammy Award for best short-form music
video in 1984. Duran Duran will be joined by prolific disco stars Nile Rodgers
and Chic along with contemporary British pop-rockers Bastille. Sept. 16. $29+.
Little Caesars Arena, 2645 Woodward Ave., Detroit; 313presents.com.

HARVEST FESTIVAL SPICER’S ORCHARD

Take a drive to the countryside of metro Detroit and enjoy this family-friendly
event, which offers pumpkins, apples, and delicious wine. Make sure to grab a
donut and cider before leaving as well! Sept. 16-17. No cost to attend. 10411
Clyde Road, Fenton; spicerorchards.com.

NORTH AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW

The main draw is a variety of auto displays and demonstrations, but this annual
also offers encounters with more than 80 dinosaurs, a drone show, and rides in
an F-150 Lightning. Ten food trucks will be on site to keep you satiated and
there’s a full schedule of music performances and other live
entertainment. Sept. 16-24. $20 for adults, $12 for seniors, $10 for kids 3-12,
and $50 for a family pass for two adults and three kids. Various locations,
downtown Detroit. Main car displays at Huntington Place, 1 Washington Blvd.,
Detroit; naias.com.

ENCOUNTER

A collaborative exhibit featuring furniture designer Nina Cho and fiber artist
Minji NamKoong, this gallery explores how their shared Korean cultural heritage
creates a unified aesthetic between the artists’ differing design mediums: Cho’s
specialization being minimalistic furniture and mirrors, NamKoong’s in hand-sewn
compositions inspired by Korean patchwork. Sept. 16 – Oct. 14. No cost for
admission. I.M. Weiss Gallery, 2857 E Grand Blvd. #104, Detroit; designcore.org.

JESSICA KIRSON

This New Jersey-born comedian, actress, and producer established herself by
performing at some of New York City’s most notable comedy clubs — including
Laugh Factory, Carolines, and Gotham Comedy Club. Her 2019 Comedy Central
special, Talking to Myself, was produced by Bill Burr and featured Kirson’s
self-deprecating takes on dating as a lesbian and growing up as the child of a
therapist. Kirson currently works as a contributor on The Howard Stern Show,
where she produces and participates in hilarious prank phone calls. Sept. 17.
$35. Royal Oak Music Theatre, 318 W. 4th St., Royal
Oak; royaloakmusictheatre.com.

DEATH GRIPS

Combining elements of punk rock, electronic, and industrial music, this
experimental hip-hop trio’s 2012 debut album, The Money Store, was met with
rabid critical and fan acclaim. Known for incorporating extensive improvisation
and bizarre stage stunts, including handcuffed performances and destruction of
instruments, a Death Grips live show promises to be anything but boring. Sept.
17. $65+. The Fillmore, 2115 Woodward Ave., Detroit; livenation.com.

BUDGET BRIDAL EXPO

Brides on a budget can explore potential wedding menus, fashion, and gifts.
There will be tons of games that feature prizes from the vendors and a weekend
getaway giveaway. You’ll even get the change to chat with budget experts. Sept.
17. Free to attend. Doubletree Dearborn-Detroit, 5801 Southfield Freeway,
Detroit; pbdetroit.com.

50 CENT

The Emmy and Grammy award-winning artist is on a global tour to celebrate the
20th anniversary of his debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin.’ The tour makes
stops in North America and Europe, including a stop here in Detroit. Sept. 17.
$148+. Pine Knob Music Theatre, 33 Bob Seger Drive, Clarkston; 313presents.com.
