From November 18th to 20th, a three-day conference is taking place at Signal
Hill Memorial Campus and Johnson Geo Centre in St. John’s entitled Building
Climate Resilience: Infrastructure Design and Planning with Uncertainty. To find

CANADA-WIDE ZERO-EMISSION VEHICLE STRATEGY

July 16, 2019

Council of Ministers Responsible for Transportation and Highway Safety (COMT)
endorsed a Canada-wide Strategy on Zero-Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) at their
meeting on January 21, 2019 in Montreal, delivering on a commitment in the
Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change. Newfoundland and
Labrador was represented at the meeting by the Honourable Steven Crocker,
Minister of Transportation and Works, and Minister Gambin-Walsh, Minister of
Service NL.

THE GLOBAL COMMISSION ON ADAPTATION UNDERWAY

July 9, 2019

The Global Commission on Adaptation (GCA) is an international collaboration of
nations and adaptation experts led by Bill Gates (Co-Founder of the Bill and
Melinda Gates Foundation), Kristalina Georgieva (CEO of the World Bank) and Ban
Ki-moon (8th Secretary General of the United Nations). Its objective is to raise
the political profile of climate change adaptation and bringing scale and speed
to adaptation solutions. With 19 convening nations, Canada is one of the five
countries who will be financially contributing to the GCA, providing $7.5
million dollars over the course of two years.
