I-5 SHOOTING BETWEEN WOODBURN AND BROOKS TODAY SENDS 1 TO HOSPITAL; WITNESSES

Press release from OSP today:

Oregon State Police is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred
on Interstate 5 near Brooks.

This event occurred at approximately 11:50 A.M. southbound on Interstate 5
between Woodburn and Brooks.

OSP is asking anyone with any information or that might have a witnessed a road
rage type incident between a Black Honda Accord and another vehicle to call
Oregon State Police Northern Command Center at 1-800-442-2068 or *OSP.

One person was transported to the hospital with injuries.

NORTH MARION COUNTY ORGANIZATIONS RECEIVE GRANTS FROM THE OREGON CULTURAL TRUST.

The Oregon Cultural Trust announced Coronavirus Relief Fund Cultural Support
grant awards totaling $25.7 million to 621 cultural organizations across Oregon
through a partnership between the Oregon Cultural Trust and its County and
Tribal Cultural Coalitions.

The funds, allocated to the Cultural Trust for Oregon cultural organizations
facing losses due to the COVID-19 health crisis, were made available through a
$50 million relief package for Oregon culture approved by the Emergency Board of
the Oregon Legislature in July.

In North Marion County, awards were made to the following organizations: 
 * Antique Powerland Museum  $71,205
 * Aurora Colony Historical Society  $8,647
 * Mt. Angel Oktoberfest $37,270
 * Silverton Arts Association  $13,757
 * St. Paul Rodeo Association  $81,238

FREE FINANCIAL AID OFFERED TO ST. PAUL RESIDENTS AFFECTED BY COVID-19.

The City of St. Paul has received federal funds to assist households that have
suffered financially from the pandemic. The assistance provides a one-time
financial payment to St. Paul city residents who have experienced a loss of
income, reduced work hours, unemployment, or increased household expenses as a
direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is NOT designed to assist individuals who were not financially impacted by
the pandemic.

The program will start September 21, 2020 and the deadline to submit an
application for assistance is October 31, 2020. Applications may be obtained by
contacting the City of St. Paul. All applications will be reviewed, and the City
Council will approve or deny assistance. All funds are available on a first
come-first serve basis.

TUESDAY...


* WHAT...East winds 15 to 30 mph with widespread gusts of 40 to 55
  mph are expected. Locally stronger winds with gusts of 60 to 65
  mph are possible across the West Hills and areas east of the
  Portland and Vancouver Airports.

* WHERE...In Washington, Greater Vancouver Area. In Oregon,
  Greater Portland Metro Area.

* WHEN...From 5 PM Monday to 1 PM PDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Tree limbs and even whole trees will be susceptible to
  being blown down. Be prepared for power outages. Travel will be
  difficult, especially for high profile vehicles along Interstate
  205.

* FIRE CONCERNS...Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire
  spread. Use extreme caution with potential ignition sources.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around
trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of
your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if
you must drive.

YAMHILL COUNTY SHERIFF WILL CONDUCT ENHANCED TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT OVER LABOR DAY
WEEKEND.

YCSO press release today:

The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office will increase patrols over the Labor Day
Weekend in an effort to minimize and reduce the negative impact of impaired
drivers on law abiding motorists. These extra patrols will take place September
4th to September 6th, 2020.


If you plan to host a party or attend a party where alcohol is being served you
can take some precautions beforehand to avoid what could be a deadly end to the
night.

* If you host a party and provide alcohol, make sure to also include food and
non-alcoholic beverages. Monitor your guest’s alcohol consumption and take the
keys from a guest who has had too much.
* Use public transportation or a taxi;
* Ask a friend who has not been drinking for a ride home;
* Promote the use of designated drivers and stop impaired family or friends from
driving;
* Always wear your seatbelt.

If you see a suspected impaired driver please call 9-1-1 and report them. Some
signs to look for are:
* Swerving or weaving in and out of a lane;
* Stopping abruptly at traffic signs or signals;
* Making unusually wide turns;
* Driving over curbs;
* Driving with headlights off at night.
