CAREERS

The workplace is a game with its own set of rules. Learn them. Fast Company
praised my advice is essential for career success. Other magazines disagreed.
They are not quoted here.




EDUCATION

I have a radical approach to education, which the New York Times cites as proof
that homeschooling works. My kids aren’t yet grown, but at least they’re not in
prison.




COACHING

The writers at Inc. magazine named me the world’s most influential career
counselor. My son does a great impression of me giving career advice. I always
thought he wasn’t listening.




WHAT IS FULFILLING TO YOU?




Most people cannot say what, exactly, is fulfilling to them. But personality
type testing solves that problem. 

I’m obsessed with personality type. I could probably guess yours if we were
talking, but you can find out your type by taking a test. I love the test
because I learned so much about myself from it. Take the test!

My career looks great on paper. I played professional beach volleyball,
published five books, launched four VC-funded startups, and I homeschool my two
sons. But. I have run out of money many times. And when I worked fulltime with
two young kids I put a knife in my head and ended up in the ER. It felt like a
vacation.

Today I homeschool my two sons and cut my own hair. We have lived in NYC, a farm
in Wisconsin, Philadelphia, and now we’re in Boston. My goal used to be to
create a stable enough life for my kids so that when someone says, “Where are
you from?” they have an answer. Now my goal is to earn enough money to get them
safely into adult life. Whatever that means.
