EX-UFC CHAMPION FRANCIS NGANNOU PROVIDES MAJOR UPDATE ON MMA CAREER AHEAD OF

EX-UFC CHAMPION FRANCIS NGANNOU PROVIDES MAJOR UPDATE ON MMA CAREER AHEAD OF
ANTHONY JOSHUA FIGHT

Francis Ngannou has vowed to return to MMA before he calls time on his career.

The former UFC heavyweight champion hasn’t fought inside the octagon since
outpointing interim titleholder Ciryl Gane in a unification fight at UFC 270 in
January

Since then, he’s undergone knee surgery, endured a long recovery process, left
the UFC, started a career in boxing, and fought WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson
Fury.

After dropping ‘The Gypsy King’ and finding himself on the wrong end of a
controversial split decision in his boxing debut, Ngannou has booked another big
fight.

On Monday, the 37-year-old was in London to officially announce he will take on
former two-time heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia on
March 8.

Despite potentially being one win away from an undisputed title bout in boxing,
‘The Predator’ still hopes to make an eagerly anticipated MMA comeback.

“At this point, I’m not done with MMA,” Ngannou told DAZN.

"I can tell you that I’m not done with MMA, because I still believe that there’s
still some great fights out there that I can still offer fans.

“My MMA fans was my base, who also helped me to get to this position, so I’m
still thinking about how to work with that community.”

Ngannou has signed a deal to fight in MMA for the Professional Fighters League
[PFL], and its chairman, Donn Davis, expects the Cameroonian knockout artist to
make his company debut by the end of 2024.

Despite expressing a desire to return to MMA, Ngannou says his main priority is
to secure a rematch with Fury after his four-belt fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

"Rematch against Fury,” he said repeatedly when asked if he would prefer to face
the Englishman or current UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

Saudi Arabia

Ngannou added: “I have a case of unfinished business.

“I wasn’t mad after the decision, but I still have this feeling of injustice.

"You know, when you feel something wasn’t right or just, I still have that
feeling.

“I won the fight.”

TRASH TALK, MORE

TORONTO – Boston Celtics forward Kristaps Porzingis thinks he’s probably the
biggest MMA fan among active NBA players.

Porzingis is a close follower of the UFC, and like many fans of the sport is
eager to see what happens in Saturday’s UFC 297 headliner when Dricus Du Plessis
challenges Sean Strickland for the middleweight title in the main event.

The Celtics defeated the Toronto Raptors on Monday in the same Scotiabank Arena
that will host the title fight, which airs on pay-per-view following prelims on
ESPNews and ESPN+, and after the game talked to MMA Junkie’s Mike Bohn about his
passion for the passion, the upcoming title bout, and his thoughts on the fiery
and personal track talk between Strickland and Du Plessis leading into UFC 297.

“I’ve seen it lately that there’s a lot of talk about (trash talk in MMA),”
Porzingis told MMA Junkie. “It works. It sells the fights at the end, but to
what level do you want to do that? I don’t know. It’s up to the fighters. I’m in
a different game. There’s of course trash talk on the floor and things like
that, and also sometimes there’s lines crossed. That’s what we do. We’re
competitors and sometimes those boundaries get pushed.”

Watch the complete interview with Porzingis above ahead of UFC 297.
