You can clearly see that although our client has a high frequency rate, we were able to maintain their severity rate at nearly 50% of the industry standard compared to their peers. This resulted in a significantly lower claim cost and experience modification for our client. After taking over in period 8, we were able to quickly improve our client’s closure rate significantly by closing their claims faster, more efficiently and at a lower cost. This resulted in a lower average cost per claim and reduced their pure loss rate in just two years. Using our proprietary program, we were able to work with the client to focus on resolving a lot of their older outstanding claims. We worked with the client to change their culture and focus on the big picture. Instead of stipulating a claim to achieve short term cost savings, we implemented the strategy of closing out the future cost of the claim by settling out by way of CNR and reducing their outstanding reserves. Account was BORed in November 2018. After reviewing their current legal panel, legal costs, and overall litigation philosophy, we made wholesale changes to the entire program including implementation of a full legal panel around January 2019. These changes resulted in an initial reduction of over $400K in legal costs associated with when the services were provided within the first year of implementation. From there, we were really able to control the costs from a DOI (Date of Injury) viewpoint as all claims subsequent to 2019 were influenced by these overall changes. Within the next 3 years, the total paid in legal costs dropped 56% for 2020, 76% for 2021, and 99% for 2022 with a majority of these cases being resolved early on.
