PSYCHOLOGICAL THERAPY

Our dedicated and experienced team provide therapy and counselling services to
children, adolescents and adults across Warwickshire and the midlands. We work
with individuals, couples and families. Our psychological interventions are
based on scientific understanding and research evidence. We will tailor your
treatment using the psychological approaches best suited to meet your needs. We

SPECIALIST ASSESSMENTS

Our Psychologists provide a number of specialist assessments to adults and
children, including our popular screening assessments for Attention Deficit
Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). These
assessments provide a strong indication of whether a diagnosis of ADHD and / or
Autism is present. This can be useful in helping clients decide whether a more
detailed (and often very expensive) diagnostic assessment would be useful or
not.



We also provide specialist neuropsychological assessments for clients that have
acquired brain injuries and neurological conditions.


TRAINING AND CONSULTATION

We are experienced in providing training and workshops to other professionals in
health, social care and the voluntary sector, on a range of topics that may
enhance best practice in the workplace, including stress management, trauma
resilience, mindfulness and conflict resolution.



We are privileged to be involved in an ongoing project providing assessment and
therapy to staff members within West Midlands Police.




SUPERVISION

Our team have extensive experience in the provision of supervision for trainee
and qualified psychologists and counsellors. We deliver tailor made supervision
in a number of psychological models for intervention with adults, adolescents
and children.


NEUROPSYCHOLOGY

Within our team we have expertise in providing neuropsychological assessments
and neuropsychological rehabilitation for clients with acquired brain injuries
and neurological diseases, such as multiple sclerosis and parkinson disease.

WHAT TO EXPECT



We understand that our clients may feel nervous about attending their first
appointment. We do our best to provide an environment that feels comfortable,
welcoming and private. We prioritise building a trusting relationship and
positive rapport with our clients from the outset.



When your referral is received by Bamford Psychology Service, Dr Catherine
Bamford will match you to the Psychologist in the team that is the most suitable
to provide you with the help that you need.



If your appointment is online, you will receive a link to the meeting the day
before your appointment via email. If you are meeting your Psychologist in
person, you will find that our clinic rooms are easily accessible, private and
comfortable. You will be asked to complete a registration form with your
personal details and provide brief information about your difficulties before
your first appointment.

The assessment appointment and any follow up therapy appointments will last 55
minutes, unless otherwise stated.



In the initial assessment you will talk to your Psychologist about the issues
you are experiencing. Your Psychologist will also ask you more general
background questions, relating to your lifestyle, health, work and personal
life.



If therapy is advised, following the assessment you will make a plan with your
Psychologist regarding when the therapy will be take place and roughly how many
sessions you may need.



Clients under the age of 18 will be asked to attend their initial appointment
with a parent or guardian.



We are registered providers for a number of private health insurers for clients
that wish to claim for their therapy sessions.



If you are paying for your appointment the cost will depend on the type of
assessment and therapy you have and the Psychologist that you see. Please
contact us for more details.

Online Appointments

Many people choose to have their appointments online. Not only does this save
you travel time and costs, but it can also be just as effective as face to face
therapy, yet in the comfort of your own home. Most people feel comfortable
speaking with their psychologist online, however sometimes people find that they
feel more comfortable speaking with their psychologist in person, especially
when talking about very sensitive or distressing information.



When considering online appointments, please make sure that you are able to
speak in a location that is completely private, without interruption and that
you have a good internet connection.

We do not offer medico legal assessments or full diagnostic assessments for ADHD
or autism. We provide screening assessments only for ADHD or autism which
provide a strong indication of a diagnosis if present.



If you are self funding, appointments with our Psychologists cost between £130 -
£160 per session (1 hour) depending on who you see and the service you require.
