SEND PICTURES TO INMATES IN JAIL USING
INMATE PHOTOS

Sending photos to jail is not as straightforward as it sounds. Each jail has its
own rules for sending photos. When sending photos to correctional facilities,
the mailroom will reject your pictures if you get just one thing wrong.

The mailroom rules are usually hard to track down and are often out of date, and
that is where Inmate Photos shines.

At Inmate Photos, we invest huge amounts of time into staying up to date on each
facility’s mailroom policies related to incoming mail and photos. That is why
when we ship a photo package to a facility, we have all the confidence in the
world that the inmate will get it.

WHO CAN SEND PHOTOS TO INMATES?

Jails usually encourage a loved one and family members to send photos to their
inmates because there is nothing better than a good support system for your
incarcerated loved one.

When sending photos to prison, it is important to note that some facilities
require that the package be mailed directly from a company rather than from a
loved one or family member.

Most facilities do not regulate who can send pictures to an inmate, except for
mail coming from other inmates. In general, inmate-to-inmate correspondence is
not allowed at most facilities.

RULES FOR SENDING PICTURES TO INMATES

Correctional facilities are notorious for having complex rules regarding their
incoming mail policies, and that is where we come in. Every prison and jail has
its own rules about the types of pictures someone can send to inmates.

A universal rule is that images cannot contain anything harmful to the security
of the prison. Another common rule is images cannot show illegal activity. Avoid
sending anything inappropriate or incriminating.

Inmate Photos keeps a current list of the rules for more than 4,000 prisons,
jails, and youth detention centers across the United States. Before you upload
photos for a facility, we will show you the rules of the facility’s mailroom.

HOW TO SEND PICTURES TO INMATES

 1. Download the Inmate Photos app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play
    store to your mobile phone.
 2. Create an account and add either a state inmate, which includes inmates at
either state prisons or county jails, or you can add a federal inmate.
 3. Review the prison’s mailroom rules and make sure that you upload pics that
do not violate the incoming mail rules set by the institution.
 4. Inmate Photos will then handle the printing, packaging, and mailing of the
photos. If there is a limit on the number of pictures an inmate can receive
in a day, we will make sure to send any photos that exceed that limit on
    consecutive days.
 5. Relax knowing that the photo prints will be promptly mailed to your
    incarcerated loved one.

THE BEST WAY TO SEND PICTURES TO INMATES IS BY USING THE INMATE PHOTOS APP

There are many benefits to using the Inmate Photos app.

Our upfront pricing lets you know the exact cost that includes everything we do;
we have no hidden fees.

There are many reasons why people love this app beyond us having transparent
pricing. Let us highlight a few of the reasons.

SEND PHOTOS DIRECTLY FROM YOUR PHONE.

We make it easy to send good-quality color prints to your loved one in a
correctional facility. You can add images from your phone, social media account,
or other places. If you can email the image from your phone, you can send it
with Inmate Photos.

Easily connect Google Photos, Facebook, and Instagram to your account.

SEND PHOTO PRINTS QUICKLY WITH SAME-DAY SHIPPING

If we get your images during regular business hours, they go out that day. If
you send them when the office is closed, we print and mail them the next day.
Pictures are usually delivered to the facility within 2-3 days. We ask you to
wait for about two weeks before calling if the pictures were not received.

THE INMATE’S NAME AND IDENTIFICATION NUMBER ARE PRINTED ON THE BACK OF EACH
PRINT

Another general rule is the inmate’s name and ID number must be on the back of
the image. Inmate Photos prints the inmate number on the back for you. Most, but
not all, facilities require this. It helps to ensure the photos are not stolen.

STATE OF THE ART COMMERCIAL PHOTO PRINTING MACHINES

We have invested huge amounts of money in buying the most up-to-date photo
printing machines, so you can rest assured the prints the inmate will receive
will be of the highest quality.

WE SHIP DIRECTLY AND GUARANTEE DELIVERY

If the inmate does not receive the photos because you chose the wrong address
for the facility or they just got lost in the mail, we will reship the order
free. For example, if you send photos to Cook County Jail, but the inmate is at
Maricopa County jail, we will reship the photos for free.

WHY SENDING PICTURES TO AN INMATE IS SO IMPORTANT

Being incarcerated is a very lonely time in a person’s life, and you should know
how important pictures are to the incarcerated.

Pictures help remind inmates that their loved ones are more important than any
drama happening behind the walls. That reminder can help give them a reason to
stay out of trouble and to work on the issues within themselves that landed them
behind bars in the first place.

When someone is incarcerated in prison, you know that maintaining close contact
can help them complete their sentence easier. A letter from you and a family
photo makes a huge difference in their dull environment. Inmate Photos helps you
keep that family connection.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long until the inmate receives the photos?

We generally have the photos at the facility within 2 to 3 business days. The
amount of time required for a facility to review photos and hand them to the
inmate varies. For this reason, we ask that you give it two weeks after you
place your order before inquiring about where the inmate's photos are.

Does the inmate receive physical photos?

Yes, the photos are printed on a high-end commercial printer, and they are
physical photos that are delivered to the facility.

What if I sent photos that violate the facility rules?

Most facilities will return photos that violate rules to you. You will not be
refunded for these photos if that does happen.

Do you contract with correctional facilities?

We understand the challenges facing prisons and jails when it comes to
contraband. If you are a staff member at a facility, we welcome you to contact
us

Can I add money to the inmate's photo account?

You can add funds to the inmate's photo account balance, but you should not
confuse this with adding funds to the inmate's commissary account. The inmate
can only use these funds to purchase photos uploaded for them but never were
purchased.

Can inmates buy uploaded but unpurchased photos?

If the civilian uploads photos but does not complete their purchase, we may
offer the inmate a chance to purchase the photos as long as we have reason to
believe the images were intended for that inmate.

I ordered a lot of photos, but the inmate only received part of the order

Facilities have daily limits, so if you exceeded that limit, the inmate would
receive your order over multiple days. It is also possible that if you send
photos that violate facility rules, they only give the photos with approved
content to the inmate.

I try to log in, but it keeps telling me to confirm my email address before
continuing.

We send an email to the email address you provided that has a link in it that
you need to click on. This is so we can confirm the email address belongs to
you. Please find the email and click on the link.

What if I put in the wrong address?

Some facilities will forward the photos to the inmate for a limited amount of
time. If that doesn't happen, the photos will be returned to the return address
you put in

Do you offer refunds?

We print out the photos as soon as you place your order, and for this reason, we
cannot offer refunds
