WELCOME TO MY WORLD.

 

It’s not Sophies World, nor the one according to Garp.



My world is a tragical and comical one, sometimes simultaneously. Filled with
humans and humanity. With good times and bad times. Spiced up by an equal pinch
of Schadenfreude and Joie de Vivre. Populated by winners and losers, locked in a
never-ending game of musical chairs, looking for the one which got away. My
world is just like real life; real life is very simple – don’t you think?




ABOVE THE CLOUDS FREEDOM MIGHT BE ENDLESS.

 

As a child of the 70s’ I still believe German singer/songwriter Reinhold Mey’s
mantra that freedom might be endless above the clouds. Watching the jets take
off from the visitors' terrace of my hometown’s airport, I kept dreaming about
the unfathomable freedom these lucky travelers were on their way to. Even now,
for me with every take off, endless freedom almost becomes a reality.
Unfortunately, only almost. Because never-ending freedom for one means no
freedom for anyone else. Still, I am hoping for it every time I break through
the clouds.

THE WAY TO MY HEART IS THROUGH MY STOMACH, THEY SAY.



I love many things and indiscriminately, and almost everything. It just has to
be good. If it is good, it doesn’t matter if it is Hot Dogs or Truffles. But if
it is bad, I will hate it. As a child I spontaneously developed severe food
allergies which prohibited me from eating the exact ingredient in the
home-cooked meals at my friends’ homes. Unfortunately, I experienced a
miraculous healing after a friend’s mother compassionately told mine how sorry
she was “for Vanessa and how difficult it must be to have such a limited diet
due to allergies.” From that day on, I had to eat everything at my friends’
homes.

 

The best thing about being a grown-up is not having to eat everything; also, you
can go to bed whenever you want.
