A MICROSCHOOL

The public education system has let our children down for too long. It's time
for a different kind of school.
Get Started

Let's Start by building foundations in core skills

CORE SKILLS

Students build core skills each day through computer programs designed to target
instruction regardless of age or ability. This means students typically
performing below their peers have the time and support to build skills at their
own paces without being compared to others. It also means that students who work
at an accelerated pace have the freedom to do so.

CONNECTIONS ARE COURSES TAUGHT BY AGE BAND. THESE COURSES INCLUDE SUBJECTS LIKE
ART, BIBLE, HISTORY, AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND HEALTH.

TEAMS, NOT GRADE LEVELS

Age bands allow for students with varied ability levels to cooperate within the
connections classes.  We call these teams.

DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE

Students build some skills, such as fine motor skills, at varied ages.
Therefore, we tailor our connections classes to the teams based on what is
developmentally appropriate for those students.

ENGAGING

Students attention spans and interests also vary with age. The use of teams to
teach connections classes ensures we provide engaging content for all of our
teams.

EXPLORATORY CLASSES

Exploratory classes include Science and Engineering topics among others. These
are project-based learning units where all students participate together to
solve a problem.

These units are engaging for students, open-ended, and aligned with learning
goals. They allow students to put together everything they know and learn to
analyze, evaluate, and create solutions to real world problems.

Students of all age ranges and ability levels participate in these projects
cooperatively. For example, in the task of creating a community garden, students
would learn about plants and what they need to grow, the types of soils and
native plants to the area, as well as the elements of irrigation, water erosion,
runoff, pollution from fertilizers, and many other topics meeting elementary and
middle school standards for the state of Georgia.

Cooperative learning is based in the constructivist learning theory. You can
learn more about this theory here.

About us

ABOUT US

Mircroschools, though fairly new, are spreading as the answer to the current
education situation. In our experience, public schools do not provide the best
learning experiences for the majority of learners, and private schools mostly
just copy the failed practices implemented in public schools- you just pay for
it.

It is our desire to be an alternative to the current system. We provide
education experiences backed by research, and we empower students to take
control of their own learning.
