Eligibility case: IG warns 'anarchists' By Paul Shalala The Zambia Police
Service has advised the public to avoid flocking to the Constitutional Court
premises when the judgment in former President EDGAR LUNGU's eligibility case
will be read on Tuesday next week. Inspector General of Police GRAPHEL MUSAMBA
says his office has received credible intelligence that certain individuals are
planning to cause disturbances during the court proceedings. Mr. MUSAMBA has
warned that any acts intended to disrupt public peace and order will not be
tolerated and those found engaging in such activities will be dealt with to the
full extent of the law. He has told ZNBC News in a statement that the Zambia
Police Service is fully prepared to ensure that law and order is maintained
across the country. Mr. MUSAMBA has appealed to all peace-loving citizens to go
about their daily activities responsibly on that day and to follow the court
proceedings from the comfort of their homes or other appropriate locations.

Tuesday, December 10, 2024, broadcast live Constitutional Court proceedings on
the eligibility case of former President, EDGAR LUNGU. The court proceedings,

Zambia, DRC form joint probe into ZNS officer's death By Caren Mwaka Zambia and
the Democratic Republic of Congo –DRC- have constituted a joint investigation
team following the shooting to death of a Zambia National Service -ZNS- officer
in Ndola’s Chichele Forest Reserve. Defence Minister AMBROSE LUFUMA says the
incident occurred on December 1, 2024 after ZNS officers intercepted mealie meal
smugglers believed to be Zambian nationals and confiscated the smuggled
commodity. He says the smugglers fled into the DRC that led to confrontations
between Zambian and Congolese forces, resulting in the tragic death of one ZNS
officer and one soldier being injured. The Defence minister has confirmed that
Staff Sergeant CORINTHIANS KAPUTA sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced
dead at Kalewa Garrison Hospital in Ndola while Staff Sergeant JOSEPH BANDA
sustained a gunshot wound. Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr.
LUFUMA urged traders to operate within stipulated regulations to avoid similar
situations.
