Chapter 7 is often known as the “fresh start” bankruptcy meaning that your
unsecured debt will usually be wiped away. Examples of unsecured debt include
car loans and housing loans, medical bills, pay day loans, credit cards and
other related debt. If you are suffering under the weight of unmanageable debt,
Chapter 7 bankruptcy may be able to provide you with much-needed relief.
However, there are other types of debt that cannot be wiped away such as student
loans, child support, alimony, unpaid taxes, debts incurred due to fraud, and
joint debts that were assumed in a property settlement or divorce judgment.

The Initial Consultation - FREE

If you are considering chapter 7 bankruptcy in Michigan, the first step is to
schedule your free consultation with one of our attorneys. We will meet with you
to discuss your current financial situation and your financial goals. When we
determine the best course of action, you will be advised as to which form of

Hiring Our Law firm

Once you decided to hire our law firm, will gather information from you
regarding your income, assets, creditors, etc, in order to prepare the
bankruptcy schedules. It’s important to know that prior to filing for
bankruptcy, you must receive credit counseling through an approved credit

File your petition with the bankruptcy court.

We will file your petition with court, then we provide copy of tax returns to
Trustee. When you receive your Meeting of Creditors Notice from the court
providing you with the date of your Meeting of Creditors and the name of your
Trustee, you should mail a copy of your last two tax returns and all assets
documents to the Trustee. The Meeting of Creditors is usually 30 days after your
petition is filed with the court. The Trustee may request additional items from
you such as bank statements, divorce decree, auto titles, etc.

Attend the Meeting of Creditors.

This meeting typically lasts 5 - 10 minutes, where you meet with your assigned
