OPENING OF OUR NEWS DIVISIONS



CBC and Radio-Canada set up their own news divisions, ending their reliance on
Canadian Press dispatches.



1954

OPENING OF A FRENCH-LANGUAGE STATION IN MONCTON



This was Radio-Canada’s first station outside of Quebec. Today, Radio-Canada
Acadie delivers French-language content and services to all four
Atlantic provinces.





1993

LAUNCH OF OUR FIRST ONLINE SERVICES



CBC took part in an experimental project led by the federal Department of
Industry. CBC.ca came online two years later, becoming Canada’s first news
website, followed shortly after by Radio-Canada.ca.
