Current generation contrast agents rely on Gadolinium, which has raised major health concerns resulting from long-term accumulation in patients’ bodies. Read More ABOUT THE PROJECT AlternativesToGd is a three-year collaborative research project. It brings together highly experienced engineers, physicists, chemists and radiologists to develop a radically new and innovative contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging. These contrast agents that will be metal-free, small endogenous molecules, which are hyperpolarised to ensure high sensitivities even at very low doses. FACTS AND FIGURES We answered some of the most frequently asked questions about the project and provide facts and figures. Read More WORK PACKAGES The project is divided into six different work packages which cover all aspects of the development and validation. Find out more RESULTS We’re are providing open access to published papers and reports, as well as our research data. Acces our results PARTNERS Our multidisciplinary consortium combines the expertise of ten partners from six countries. It includes major universities, research institutes and industry partners. To find out more about our consortium and its researchers, click on the country on the map below to see the individual partners. On each country’s page you can read more details about the consortium’s members. UNITED KINGDOM FRANCE GERMANY ITALY AUSTRIA DENMARK ISRAEL PUBLICATIONS Find all our research results, public data, press publications and media here. VIEW OUR RESEARCH RESULTS Our scientific publications, and datasets used for those publications, are published free of any restrictions on access. Read More PRESS AND MEDIA Download all our promotional materials, such as flyers and folders, and read our press releases. Read More NEWS Stay up to date on the AlternativesToGd project. We will periodically share news on research developments, publications, presentations and more. For more updates, be sure to follow the project on social media as well using the #AlternativesToGd. News Archive Publication news: September 2020 On September 3, 2020, an author’s manuscript with results on the hyperpolarization of fumarate was published to a pre-print server, pending peer review. Read more Project receives extension On September 3, 2020, the AlternativesToGd project received a cost-neutral, 12-month extension from the European Commission due to delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Read more Publication news: July 2020 Three new papers with project results have been published: one on hyperpolarized water through dDNP with UV-generated radicals, one on laser-synthesis of NV-centers-enriched nanodiamonds, and one on synthesis of nanodiamonds from adamantane “seeds”. Read more First project publication The first paper with AlternativesToGd results has been published on March 10, 2020! This reports results on hyperpolarized 15-N2-urea detection.
