DAVID FINCHER’S FAVORITE COEN FILM IS ‘MILLER’S CROSSING’ — A BIG INFLUENCE ON
‘THE KILLER’

September 12, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

On 02.01.23 I asked readers what their best Joel and Ethan Coen movie was.

As you can imagine, an assortment of answers were included. The Coen
filmography, which includes many classics, is an all-timer — it has spanned five
decades. There aren’t many American filmmakers who can equal it.

At Venice, David Fincher mentioned at his press conference that the Coen’ 1990
mob movie “Miller’s Crossing” was his favorite film of theirs. Fincher credits
the iconic scene where Bernie Bernbaum begs for his life, as having had a big
influence on his upcoming "The Killer".

I personally can’t choose a Coen favorite. There are too many. The flat-out
great films in their filmography includes the likes of “Fargo,” “Inside Llewyn
Davis,” “No Country For Old Men,” “The Big Lebowski,” “A Serious Man,” and
“Raising Arizona.”
