CHESTER TOWNSHIP  A two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 250 resulted in the death of
one man and serious injuries to another; a third man fled the scene,
investigators say.

The crash occurred near Firestone Road at approximately 6:25 a.m. Monday,
according to a news release from the Wooster Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.

A 2020 GMC van traveling east on Route 250 went left of center and struck a 2011
Ford truck traveling west, the patrol said.

to Wooster Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

Zachary A. Stutzman, 33, of Warren, a passenger, was also ejected and
transported to the same hospital by New Pittsburg Fire, and later transferred to
Akron City Hospital with serious injuries. A third occupant had minor visible
injuries and fled the scene due to pending arrest warrants, the patrol said.

Safety belts were not in use by the occupants. A dispatcher said the patrol is
investigating who was driving the GMC van.

The Ford truck had two occupants, both with minor injuries. Neither was taken to
the hospital.
