THE STANLEY CLARK SCHOOL

Students in kindergarten and 1st grade were delighted to play Kick the Can in
gym class earlier this week. A great transition game between sports units,
students are paired up to begin learning to strategize independently and develop
skills needed for Capture the Flag, a favorite amongst older grades. And, of
course, nothing beats hiding and running through the forest!

4th graders worked together to create the most delicious study guides possible -
edible cookie maps of Indiana. They used frosting, licorice, fruit loops,
chocolate chips, and more to indicate regions, landforms, lakes, rivers, points
of interest, and bordering states. Once complete, they enjoyed devouring their
cookie creations.

Today, we kicked off this year's cross-divisional Buddy Activities with a nature

take home. Our Buddy Activities are often centered around our One Word, with
this year's word being Responsibility. We love seeing our students of all ages
working together and enjoying each other's company!

Mrs. Bowling's Kindergarten class created a collaborative splatter paint art
piece this morning after being inspired by a classmate who took an interest in
it earlier this week. As a class, they learned about artist Jackson Pollock and
his "action painting" method. Then, this morning, Mrs. Bowling invited students
to explore their own action painting by using various tools and investigating
how their movements or placement of their bodies changed the way their marks
looked on the paper. After the artwork was dry, students gathered around it to
share one word that came to mind. Results included "beautiful," "movement,"
"fancy," "cool," and "great," to name a few.
