On July 1, 2022, a panel of four medical flag officers from the United States and Australia met to discuss joint-medical readiness during the 2022 Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC) Medical Symposium at Sharkey Theater on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. The theme of the medical symposium was "interoperability." The panel members discussed how international partnerships and standardization can improve patient outcomes if and when medical assets are called to respond to a wartime situation or humanitarian crisis.

Going the extra mile to see you smile
Cmdr. Todd Eppel, a dentist assigned to Navy Medicine Readiness and Training
Command Pearl Harbor (NMRTC PH) performs a dental exam on the Mobile Dental Unit
on Aug. 4, 2022, aboard Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. MDUs go the
extra mile in promoting the medical readiness of the fleet by bringing dental
care to the warfighter. NMRTC PH's dental clinic on wheels administers dental
exams to Sailors pier-side three times a week in support of ensuring a medically
ready force.
Simulated mass casualty injury response
Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Pearl Harbor (NMRTC PH) staff and
the Federal Fire Department evaluate and treat simulated mass casualty injuries
during the NMRTC PH mass casualty exercise on Aug. 11, 2022, aboard Joint Base
Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The quick- reaction, scenario-driven drill evaluated the
NMRTC PH and Federal Fire Department's response to a mass casualty incident,
should one occur. The drill evaluated NMRTC-PH’s ability to alert staff and
respond to the installation’s requests to support the Federal Fire Department.

The other panel members include Rear Adm. Sarah Sharkey, Royal Australia Navy;
Rear Adm. Pamela Miller, Indo-Pacific Command Surgeon; and Brig. Gen. Paula
Lodi, U.S. Army Incoming 18th Medical Command Commanding General. The panel was
facilitated by Capt. Michael McGinnis, U.S. Pacific Fleet Surgeon. The theme of
the medical symposium was "interoperability." The panel members discussed how
international partnerships and standardization can improve patient outcomes
if/when medical assets are called to respond to a wartime situation or
humanitarian crisis.

TRICARE Open Season 2022 has ended. If you didn’t enroll or make a change to
your TRICARE health plan during open season, you must wait until the next open
season unless you have a TRICARE Qualifying Life Event (QLE). TRICARE Open

and Australia met to discuss joint-medical readiness during the 2022 Rim of the
Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC) Medical Symposium at Sharkey Theater on Joint Base
Pearl Harbor-Hickam. The theme of the medical symposium was "interoperability."
The panel members discussed how international partnerships and standardization

a wartime situation or humanitarian crisis.

HAZMAT DECONTAMINATION TRAINING PREPARES SAILORS FOR REAL-WORLD INCIDENTS
A group of 15 Sailors from Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Pearl
Harbor completed First Receiver Operations Training (FROT) at Branch Health
Clinic Makalapa, Thursday, February 17. This yearly requirement teaches Sailors
to properly decontaminate patients prior to administering medical care in the
event of a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, or Nuclear (CBRN) incident.
