Grief, a big word, an intense primal response with immense power and capability
to override our thoughts, emotions, and physical well-being. Young and old,
across gender, culture, nationality, and beliefs, we cannot be spared grief’s
pain and sadness. We grieve because we have loved and we have lost. Without
having truly loved, we have nothing to grieve.

No matter how much you understand that death is a part of life, it does not make
it any easier to experience. Although grief is a natural experience, it is
extremely painful and complicated.

There are no prescribed ways to journey through grief, but it can be even more
difficult and isolating to experience without the support of others.

Whidbey Island Grief Support provides grief services on Whidbey Island. In
person support groups led by Dr. Jennifer R. Levin, LMFT are available to
provide community and companionship to those living with loss. For more
