John Tallis has designed Our FabHaus to create spaces that are to be experienced
as well as seen and environments that promote a sense of wellbeing and
belonging.


WE WOULD ALL BENEFIT FROM
LIVING IN A SUSTAINABLE HOME.

But very few can afford it, and those who can are often frustrated by the amount
of time, irritation and poor outcomes of the process. The average construction
of an Architectural home in Australia takes between 24 and 36 months from start
to finish. We aim to cut that to less than 6 months, while making it affordable
to more people and giving better environmental outcomes.

BETTER BUILDINGS

Our unique design and build approach creates enduring homes which attain
superior Passive House energy efficiency while also presenting alluring,
comfortable, healthy living environments.

EUROPEAN BUILD-QUALITY

Our FabHaus is designed in Australia, manufactured at our factory in Europe,
then shipped and assembled, fitted out and connected on your site in Australia.
This greatly improves construction efficiency while giving you unparalleled
levels of German engineered technology and quality of finish.

All our homes come with the FabHaus Care warranty as well as being Passivhaus
certified — a rigorous standard for energy efficiency in building, which reduces
our ecological footprint.



EXQUISITE DESIGN

 * Kitchens and joinery are clean line with ample storage, and a range of
   quality appliances and finishes to choose from, with Nolte and Hettich
   joinery hardware.
 * Living rooms feature 4 meter high vaulted ceilings, thoughtfully designed
   storage and window seats, and built-in desks so you can stay in touch even if
   you’re away from it all.
 * Private quarters provide generous size bedrooms with built-in robes and
   elegantly simple, stylish bathrooms.
 * All homes include exterior storage cupboards for your tools, bikes or
   anything you don’t want to keep indoors.
 * Triple glazed windows and doors are carefully positioned and scaled to frame
   your views and let natural light in, while providing fluid relationships
   between indoor and outdoor spaces.



GREEN TECHNOLOGY

 * Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) gives you healthy, fresh air at a comfortable
   temperature with reduced energy use.
 * Heating, cooling and hot water are provided by heat pump and solar
   photovoltaic systems (off-grid).
 * Airtightness and insulation mean super energy-efficiency and mould
   resistance, resulting in energy savings of around 90% compared to a
   conventional house.
 * Our FabHaus prefabricated components are Passivhaus certified to provide
   exceptional performance.
 * Triple glazed European tilt-and-turn windows, doors and sliding doors reduce
   energy use and feature flsycreens and superior built-in sun shading.
 * Integrated smart home technology is a straightforward add-on.



FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is modular construction?

Modular construction refers to fabricating a building at a place other than its
final location. Our modular buildings are fabricated in Europe, shipped to your
site in Australia, then assembled by Our FabBuilder, ready for you to move in.

Does Our FabHaus comply with the Australian Building Code?

Yes, Our FabHaus satisfies all regulatory requirements of the Australian
Building Code. The building surveyor is part of our design/construction process
and ensures that each house complies. Generally, European building norms are
stricter and Our FabHaus will comply to both standards.

Are there design limitations associated with Our FabHaus?

Yes, Our FabHaus is limited by the modules on which our plans are based, and
also by the customisations and add-ons which we offer. However, Architects
Tallis & Thomas can be engaged to work with you on extending Our FabHaus beyond
these limitations.

Can I have a custom-designed Our FabHaus building?

Our standard, beautiful range of homes has been developed to suit almost all
situations and provide high value. However, within some parameters Our FabHaus
can create all kinds of buildings. There are additional design and building
costs for custom projects.

If you’re uncertain about which of our designs would suit you, or if you want to
talk about custom design, just drop us a line.

How long will it take from signing up to moving in to my FabHaus?

As a general guide, you should allow 6 months. Factors such as planning permit
can effect the time it takes.

How much will it cost?

Our FabHaus starts from $5,000 / m2 base building. You have to allow for site
specific and custom specific costs. Please contact us for further information.

As an Architect for over 20 years, John has dedicated his career to problem
solving. John sees Our FabHaus as a unique opportunity to develop a new model of
energy efficiency within the housing sector, combining his deep understanding of
Passive House principles with a rigorous architectural process. This model
provides an exemplar to what can be done through appropriate technology with
forms and spaces that are elegant, functional and healthy to live in.

Providing efficient, better quality, sustainable architecture that is positively
