Back to Previous About Us News How Cotton Logistics Supports Government &
Utility Responders in the Aftermath of a Hurricane

HOW COTTON LOGISTICS SUPPORTS GOVERNMENT & UTILITY RESPONDERS IN THE AFTERMATH
OF A HURRICANE

In the face of disaster, first responders from government agencies and local
utility providers work tirelessly to help communities access the resources they
need to survive and recover. However, they can’t do it alone. They need help
providing a comfortable and safe environment for their employees and volunteers
to stay in when typical accommodations aren’t available.

Fortunately, Cotton Logistics has decades of experience deploying mobile
facilities, temporary support services and catering responses to disaster zones
in extremely short time frames. See how we’ve done it in the past.

KEEPING ENERGY CREWS ENERGIZED AFTER A MAJOR HURRICANE

When one of the strongest hurricanes to make landfall in the continental U.S.
damaged a large energy provider’s electrical transmission and distribution
system, over half a million residents lost power. While the energy provider’s
employees immediately got to work to fix the system, Cotton Logistics and Cotton
Culinary arrived on site to feed the team.

Within 48 hours of getting the call, we had set up a kitchen trailer and assets
and began cooking, serving up a total of 2,000 meals throughout a one-week
period.

SUPPORTING LOUISIANA FIRST RESPONDERS AFTER HURRICANE IDA

After Hurricane Ida, a category 4 storm resulting in $75 billion in damage,
devastated Southwest Louisiana, a major government agency contacted Cotton
Logistics and requested a temporary crew camp to house their first responders.

Within 96 hours of receiving the call, our team had built out the first 306
beds, and we supplied an additional 1,000 beds within the next 11 days. In
addition to setting up and maintaining the housing, Cotton Logistics also served
daily meals to over 1,000 crew members for three months while they worked to
restore Louisiana.

FEEDING UTILITY WORKERS AS THEY RESPONDED TO HURRICANE LAURA

Thousands of homes and businesses across Southwest Louisiana were left without
power for weeks after Hurricane Laura swept through the area, causing about $19
billion in damage throughout the U.S. Knowing they needed to respond rapidly to
help the community overcome this extended power outage, a local electricity
provider quickly moved into the area.

They called upon Cotton Logistics for help keeping their crew fed and healthy
while responding throughout the region, and our team arrived swiftly since we
were stationed and ready to deploy before the hurricane arrived. We rapidly
delivered the first 100 meals the day immediately following the storm, and our
team served an additional 20,009 meals over 41 days.

We also brought our own power sources, tents and resources to enhance the
atmosphere and make our operations possible amid the ongoing outage.
