The emergence of inexpensive sensing technology, the development of modern data-analytics methods, the widespread use of controllable loads and energy storage such as building HVAC systems and electric vehicles, all combine to offer a spectacular opportunity to reliably, resiliently, and securely de-carbonize the electricity grid.
