HOW TO UNINSTALL STEAM GAMES IN UBUNTU

As far as video games are concerned, the Steam gaming platform is the leader in
this sector , with thousands of games and millions of users with registered
accounts, which is its way of bringing its content to the public. It is so
efficient that there are few gaming sectors where we cannot get it and this
leads to a great demand. We can also remove the limitations to the account and
have greater access to everything, even with perfectly adaptable spaces in the
Linux operating system.

In a matter of installing it there is no loss, the thing is that if you want to
do without this and uninstall it permanently , from your Ubuntu operating
system, you must follow a series of steps, so that there is no residue after the
uninstallation, as they come to be some details, that if they are not eliminated
they will still be there. In this article we will show you what it is about, and
how to remove it completely and completely from the computer.

What commands are required to remove a game from Steam or the application
itself?

Sometimes by means of the option to share games from the library , they can
suggest us one, which we do not like in the end, and we want to get rid of the
game but not remove the platform itself, we must remember that what you
uninstall from your account you will not be able to get it back so easily, and
you will lose most of the things you have acquired.



To uninstall using the commands you must be in the terminal to open it (Ctrl +
Alt + T) and copy “sudo apt-get remove steam” then to delete any hidden folder
or file copies “rm –r ~ / .local / share / steam . This will remove everything
that is left of this application.



In what way can only one Steam game be uninstalled on Ubuntu?



Now to uninstall a game from Steam , but preserving its data in the library, you
must do the following. First in the Steam application you must open the library,
then right-click on the game to delete , this will open a drop-down menu, select
the Uninstall option, it will ask you for a confirmation and uninstall
again. After this the game will be grayed out and do not open access to it.

Through windows.

Sometimes we share Steam games that do not convince us in the end, To uninstall
them from Windows, just go to Start> settings> applications> Applications and
features> Steam then uninstall and uninstall again, in this way the Steam
installation wizard and we follow the steps to complete the process and voila,
it will be removed from the computer.

Manually.

To do this process manually we go to Start> Control Panel> programs> Programs
and features, locate Steam and then right click and choose to uninstall, then we
will see the wizard to which we will follow the steps to complete the
process; It only remains to check on the disk that there is no program folder
left, but if there is one, we delete it and that would be it.

What are the steps to uninstall Steam in Ubuntu correctly?



To completely eliminate Steam, with everything it contains and not leave a
trace, from the Ubuntu operating system you must follow a series of specific
steps to achieve it. And it is not enough just to uninstall to delete
everything, we must ensure that the files that are in the library and also those
that were created at the time of installation are eliminated.

From the Ubuntu Software Center

The Ubuntu software center is none other than the service from where you can
download applications , from a virtual store as well as the others that we
already know as the AppStore for example, you open the Ubuntu software center,
you look for Steam within it and after you locate it, you can uninstall it, now
it remains to delete the user files that are very large, for this open the
explorer and click on “see” then on “show hidden files” and then locate the path
.local / share / Steam and delete it.

Using the ‘purge’ command

This option is also valid to do this, we open a terminal and then copy the
following “sudo apt purge steam” now after this we copy “S” to confirm this
action, then a window will appear asking us to confirm, which will be completely
deleted everything related to Steam and we accept.

Then we are going to write this command to delete the launcher “sudo apt purge
steam-launcher”, and then we enter this command to delete the folders that may
remain “cd ~ / .local / share && rm -rf Steam” then “S” to confirm , now we are
going to eliminate the components for this we copy in the terminal “rm ~ /
.steampath”, and later “rm ~ / .steampid”. And then we confirm that it is not in
Ubuntu.

Using the ‘remove’ command

This process is simple, from a terminal write, “sudo apt remove steam” then we
must enter the letter “S” to confirm this action, then we check that the
executable application is not in the activity center.
