AKAMAI REPORTS FROM SOCIAL MEDIA

@Seolyzer_io @andreapernici Direct access: same problem confirmed. Investigating
on Akamai / Others CDN.

@billelward @SamPalmen Hi Sam - when I crawled the list of our redirects in
Botify and ScreamingFrog I found the 404 responses. We have 10 sites, most of
which use Akamai and are fine. The issue here is using Akamai for redirects as
well as the cloud failover security product.

2021-11-09 14:13:14

@billelward @alekhkumar1451 We had to turn off bot handling (awaiting Akamai
resolution). There is clearly an issue here for anyone using Akamai for
redirects as well as the cloud failover security product. We don't have a cloud
failover, there is no varnish cache layer, and this site is 100% serverless.

2021-11-09 14:11:37

@oonaghoregan I can’t go home for the holidays. I am not stable with this
suffering. I can’t handle the airport and the harassment they do before I fly. I
have a fear of flying and Akamai threaten to take the flight down if I get on
it.

2021-11-06 05:56:13

@SumanthRayancha @CoiledSpringPro Yeah, tiny here too, very nice! Figured with
Akamai issues this past quarter, maybe FSLY runs. Not sure my thesis is right,
but it seems to have worked.

2021-11-03 20:12:42

@oonaghoregan I felt the same when dealing with Rebecca Murtaugh, at Akamai,
like there was mental illness going on. Sociopathic issues. Enjoying the
suffering of others. Which is dangerous.

2021-10-29 09:45:08

@alexshyba @StCyrThoughts could not agree more, Jason! I should give you a demo
of it working on Akamai, Cloudflare and Netlify already ;-)

2021-10-26 17:15:33

@andreeweb And that is what iOS did! In particular, the problem was related to
how this request was made: with the OPTIONS method. This caused the issue since
the request made by the App was passing through Akamai (used to cache some
static contents and unload the real web server).

@sellvolbuytesla *AKAMAI SAYS AWARE OF EMERGING ISSUE WITH EDGE DNS SERVICE

2021-10-20 18:59:06

@tschaeferm @marcodavids That's a known measurement problem. The CDN (akamai,
google/YouTube, Facebook and others) don't appear at the IXs.

2021-10-19 06:20:17

@jasnell Very disappointed that the OpenSSL OMC has decided **not** to land the
excellent and already working QUIC-supporting APIs developed and maintained by
Akamai and has instead decided to develop their own full QUIC implementation
instead.

2021-10-14 13:12:53

@JonesUnk @GeckoSquadron How about keeping everything as but contact F5 Networks
for Shape Security and integrate it along with Akamai. Problem solved

2021-10-09 22:36:45

@xchillsx @Akamai - Are you working on your issues that some customers are not
reachable via your edges? @successfactors , @Microsoft Docs, @nutanix portal….
^HM

2021-10-07 11:22:36

@boscop Tonight's reply predictions: - BMO: Please send us a PM (which won't fix
the issue, since I'm not a direct client) - Akamai: Probably no response - AmEx:
Paging their Help-Account, for the rest see BMO.

2021-10-06 00:54:30

@Lynxifer Also despite Microsoft using its own Azure Cloud and Akamai, the
software update servers will be rammed pretty hard, that will cause congestion
lower down the chain.

2021-10-05 13:38:43

@lukeofpreston @PeterWi05879624 @JosephZizys @GrogsGamut DNS services like
@Akamai try and deal with DDOS by moving stuff around.. keeping systems up etc..
new IP addresses.. send the DDOS traffic somewhere unimportant..

2021-10-05 03:49:29

@iShripalGandhi I sincerely doubt that the outage is because of DNS error. Yes.
Akamai did go down in July due to DNS error but that was partially. In this
case, we are looking at global outage for THREE services owned by one company,
but on shared infrastructure. My grouse - No DR plan?

2021-10-04 18:54:14

@_elsehow as far as structural outages go, this FB thing is relatively minor. a
few hundreds of millions of dollars lost at most. if a similar outage hit AWS,
cloudflare, akamai, etc, no one's credit card would work. i expect the losses
would be in the billions if not trillions.

2021-10-04 18:30:46

@DigitallyBones @filmbeatzzz Could be either Akamai or AWS outage

2021-10-04 16:53:08

@shaunawins @bushhag Google claims that Facebook uses Akamai, but Akamai is
claiming there's no current issues on their network.

2021-10-04 15:56:32

@IamRenganathan @stealthybugs @twitsecuriter Okay... It's not working on the
akamai site now!

2021-09-28 15:15:45

@maxlynch @malkiat_ms @phonegap @maxedapps @Ionicframework @Facebook
@facebookconnect Akamai is a legitimate CDN service, so if there's an issue with
it it's on a case-by-case basis with a bad actor using Akamai, not with Akamai
directly

2021-09-23 17:21:31

@msleeperdotcom @tarohamtaros I have inside sources high up at Cisco that say
this happened to them. I have it on good authority the Akamai DNS outage was a
legitimate accident and not an attack That or the internet is haunted. Like,
literally. Devs/admins died with knowledge that can't ever be recovered

2021-09-22 20:39:28

@tarohamtaros and there was that whole DNS outage from Akamai in July, too the
internet's functionality relies on just like a dozen points of failure.

2021-09-22 20:12:30

@koobs @Info_Aus Mmm, conn refused is interesting (over a "standard" timeout),
but all indications so far are that bom itself is OK. Akamai (their CDN) could
otherwise be masking origin (BOM's servers) issues though.

2021-09-20 09:10:17

@DivCultivator @DrAndrewBT @WellPaidGeek Been DDOS'd at least twice. Akamai and
Cloudflare were implemented shortly thereafter ?

2021-09-17 16:09:03

@CasualSec RT - Akamai, Cloudflare and Google (which protects this site with its
Project Shield initiative) have heavily invested in ramping up their ability to
withstand these outsized attacks

2021-09-10 19:44:29

@dancer_ve @Maveritan I'm thinking that this is a DNS issue. I remember some
clever server localisation tricks that we used at akamai. If it is, I can prove
it (and fix it) in the morning.

2021-09-10 14:56:18

@SkieRowanEx @Converge_CSU I've been having problems since early in the morning
visiting certain sites whose IPs are from Akamai, which affects Steam and
Microsoft of all things, please help!

2021-09-10 12:28:58

@PattonsCoin @LaserHodl @ran_the_numbers @JesseMatchey @Infrequentvalue @nvk
@Blockstream @adam3us It could be as half-assed as a DNS botchjob or a
CloudFlare / Amazon / Akamai 'outage' As they learned from the virus, it doesn't
ACTUALLY need to be that deadly or effective. The messaging and fear is all that
matters.

2021-09-08 17:31:27

@dungvit85 @duongkai @Cloudflare @jgrahamc It may dns issue. Our service
struggling twice today when connecting akamai network

2021-09-06 16:12:06

@scareduck @jenniferm_q Probably also worth mentioning that the actors capable
of withstanding a sustained DDoS attack (Amazon Web Services, Cloudflare,
Akamai, etc.) are all liable to treat this application as radioactive.

@KevinBlancard @MireiaMinguez @AkamaiES @Akamai update from Akamai: the
error-causing issue has been mitigated by the measures they took. They are
currently re-activating their suspended regions, which should also restore the
normal speed of request handling (expect this within minutes - can be random per
application/region)

2021-08-31 13:10:57

@KevinBlancard @MireiaMinguez @AkamaiES @Akamai They are suspending regions in
their networks where they notice the issue. During the process you still might
hit a region which has not been suspended yet (and still get errors).

2021-08-31 11:24:33

@KevinBlancard @MireiaMinguez @AkamaiES @Akamai they see issues, network-level,
all over the world between their systems and AWS.

2021-08-31 11:23:38

@samsteele__ Hello @Akamai you seem to be ratelimiting your own error string
translator can you please have a look it’s making debugging production issues
very difficult

2021-08-31 11:02:11

@redbrickrose @truecolours412 My only solution to technical problems on this
project is "have you flushed the Akamai cache?" Idk what that is, but I know we
need to flush it, however one does that. I have been informed I am "not
helping."

2021-08-26 20:19:07

@lad_shi @hodl3m @Theta_Network 2) They use their video player platform as a use
case for their decentralised CDN, although the CDN is not yet working and is
running on a centralized CDN - Akamai. Theta is essentially a competitor to
Torrents and other P2P services.
