SOLAR ENERGY



Solar energy is radiant light and heat from the Sun harnessed using a range of
ever-evolving technologies such as solar heating, photovoltaics, solar thermal
energy, solar architecture and artificial photosynthesis.

It is an important source of renewable energy and its technologies are broadly
characterized as either passive solar or active solar depending on the way they
capture and distribute solar energy or convert it into solar power. Active solar
techniques include the use of photovoltaic systems, concentrated solar power and
solar water heating to harness the energy. Passive solar techniques include
orienting a building to the Sun, selecting materials with favorable thermal mass
or light dispersing properties, and designing spaces that naturally circulate
air.

The large magnitude of solar energy available makes it a highly appealing source
of electricity. The United Nations Development Programme in its 2000 World
Energy Assessment found that the annual potential of solar energy was
1,575–49,837 exajoules (EJ). This is several times larger than the total world
energy consumption, which was 559.8 EJ in 2012.

same battery. This requires fewer charging stops and will get you faster from
point A to point B. Solar energy will never run out, and it is free. The first
and foremost reason is the solar panel itself. Our current commercially operated
solar panels have only around 20 to 35% efficiency. Hence, we would need much
extra space for solar cells to power a solar car. But doing so invokes two other
problems — weight and cost. Working Principle of Solar Powered Car: Solar panels
contain photovoltaic (PV) cells. These PV cells take light, or photons, and
convert it to solar electricity. PV cells produce direct current (DC)
electricity when sunlight hits the solar panel. The electricity from this
process is converted to the standard voltage by a controller, then stored in the

Solar Powered Car: A solar panel vehicle generally describes any vehicle with
solar cells integrated into its design, known as a solar Electric Vehicle.
Solar-powered vehicles are electric vehicles that use photovoltaic cells to
convert energy from sunlight into electricity. How Solar Panels Work on Cars:
These vehicles can store solar energy in batteries to run smoothly at night or
without direct sunlight. If used on a large scale, solar-powered vehicles not
only help with environmental pollution but also noise pollution. Advantages of
Solar Car: “The benefit of solar-powered vehicles is that they don’t require
fuel and have a low maintenance cost. The solar roof will capture sunlight
continually whether the car is moving or stationary and can run longer on the
same battery. This requires fewer charging stops and will get you faster from
point A to point B. Solar energy will never run out, and it is free. The first
and foremost reason is the solar panel itself. Our current commercially operated
solar panels have only around 20 to 35% efficiency. Hence, we would need much
extra space for solar cells to power a solar car. But doing so invokes two other
problems — weight and cost. Working Principle of Solar Powered Car: Solar panels
contain photovoltaic (PV) cells. These PV cells take light, or photons, and
convert it to solar electricity. PV cells produce direct current (DC)
electricity when sunlight hits the solar panel. The electricity from this
process is converted to the standard voltage by a controller, then stored in the

   Solar Powered Car: A solar panel vehicle generally describes any vehicle with
   solar cells integrated into its design, known as a solar Electric Vehicle.
   Solar-powered vehicles are electric vehicles that use photovoltaic cells to
   convert energy from sunlight into electricity. How Solar Panels Work on Cars:
   These vehicles can store solar energy in batteries to run smoothly at night
   or without direct sunlight. If used on a large scale, solar-powered vehicles
   not only help with environmental pollution but also noise pollution.
   Advantages of Solar Car: “The benefit of solar-powered vehicles is that they
   don’t require fuel and have a low maintenance cost. The solar roof will
   capture sunlight continually whether the car is moving or stationary and can
   run longer on the same battery. This requires fewer charging stops and will
   get you faster from point A to point B. Solar energy will never run out, and
   it is free. The first and foremost reason is the solar panel itself. Our
   current commercially operated solar panels have only around 20 to 35%
   efficiency. Hence, we would need much extra space for solar cells to power a
   solar car. But doing so invokes two other problems — weight and cost. Working
   Principle of Solar Powered Car: Solar panels contain photovoltaic (PV) cells.
   These PV cells take light, or photons, and convert it to solar electricity.
   PV cells produce direct current (DC) electricity when sunlight hits the solar
   panel. The electricity from this process is converted to the standard voltage

Solar Pow­ered Car: A solar panel ve­hi­cle gen­er­al­ly de­scribes any
ve­hi­cle with solar cells in­te­grat­ed into its de­sign, known as a solar
Elec­tric Ve­hi­cle. So­lar-pow­ered ve­hi­cles are elec­tric ve­hi­cles that
use pho­to­volta­ic cells to con­vert en­er­gy from sun­light into
elec­tric­i­ty. How Solar Pan­els Work on Cars: These ve­hi­cles can store solar
en­er­gy in bat­ter­ies to run smooth­ly at night or with­out di­rect sun­light.
If used on a large scale, so­lar-pow­ered ve­hi­cles not only help with
en­vi­ron­men­tal pol­lu­tion but also noise pol­lu­tion. Ad­van­tages of Solar
Car: “The ben­e­fit of so­lar-pow­ered ve­hi­cles is that they don’t re­quire
fuel and have a low main­te­nance cost. The solar roof will cap­ture sun­light
con­tin­u­al­ly whether the car is mov­ing or sta­tion­ary and can run longer on
the same bat­tery. This re­quires fewer charg­ing stops and will get you faster
from point A to point B. Solar en­er­gy will never run out, and it is free. The
first and fore­most rea­son is the solar panel it­self. Our cur­rent
com­mer­cial­ly op­er­at­ed solar pan­els have only around 20 to 35%
ef­fi­cien­cy. Hence, we would need much extra space for solar cells to power a
solar car. But doing so in­vokes two other prob­lems — weight and cost. Work­ing
Prin­ci­ple of Solar Pow­ered Car: Solar pan­els con­tain pho­to­volta­ic (PV)
cells. These PV cells take light, or pho­tons, and con­vert it to solar
elec­tric­i­ty. PV cells pro­duce di­rect cur­rent (DC) elec­tric­i­ty when
sun­light hits the solar panel. The elec­tric­i­ty from this pro­cess is
con­vert­ed to the stan­dard volt­age by a con­troller, then stored in the

SOLAR ENERGY



Solar energy is radiant light and heat from the Sun harnessed using a range of
ever-evolving technologies such as solar heating, photovoltaics, solar thermal
energy, solar architecture and artificial photosynthesis.

It is an important source of renewable energy and its technologies are broadly
characterized as either passive solar or active solar depending on the way they
capture and distribute solar energy or convert it into solar power. Active solar
techniques include the use of photovoltaic systems, concentrated solar power and
solar water heating to harness the energy. Passive solar techniques include
orienting a building to the Sun, selecting materials with favorable thermal mass
or light dispersing properties, and designing spaces that naturally circulate
air.

The large magnitude of solar energy available makes it a highly appealing source
of electricity. The United Nations Development Programme in its 2000 World
Energy Assessment found that the annual potential of solar energy was
1,575–49,837 exajoules (EJ). This is several times larger than the total world
energy consumption, which was 559.8 EJ in 2012.
