AGENDA Times in PST 8:00 - 10:00 AM NETWORKING BREAKFAST 10:00 - 11:30 AM SCALING SOFTWARE DELIVERY WITH FEATURE MANAGEMENT Karishma Irani | Head of Product, LaunchDarkly Feature management is the gold standard in how software teams build and deliver impactful user experiences quickly and safely. It enables teams to ship more frequently, reduce risk in every release and measure the impact of their delivery. With thousands of customers and serving twenty trillion feature flags daily, LaunchDarkly has a unique view into the practices and requirements to successfully deploy feature management at scale. In this session, you'll learn about the ways in which LaunchDarkly is tackling problems like progressive rollout strategies, feature tech debt, team collaboration, and experimenting for business impact. You’ll also hear the latest capabilities and future plans that help customers deliver, control and measure their software at scale. Join us for a glimpse of what we're building this year, and the customer stories that informed those decisions as we help them scale their organization-wide feature management practices. 11:30 - 11:45 AM BREAK 11:45 - 12:10 PM USING FEATURE FLAGS TO MAKE DATA-DRIVEN DECISIONS Robert Neal | Head of Experimentation, LaunchDarkly LaunchDarkly is a powerful tool that allows you to easily accomplish safely releasing features, canary rollouts, targeting via our rules engine, and more. Today we will show you how you can improve the processes around these tasks by adding data. For example, if you are using LaunchDarkly to provide different variations of your product to different customers, you can improve that targeting by experimenting within those rules. Or if you’re doing a feature release or canary rollout, you can add metrics that allow you to validate the release is performing as expected so you can easily decide to roll back, stop the rollout, or continue releasing it. 12:10 - 12:35 PM RELEASE FASTER, AVOID DRAGONS Cody De Arkland | Principal Technical Marketing Engineer, LaunchDarkly Typically the faster you move, the more likely mistakes are going to happen, like stumbling into a dragon’s cave and catching a breath of fire. At LaunchDarkly, we like you a lot, and would prefer you not to be caught ablaze by a failed Friday Night software deployment. The way teams release software is most often the place where the “dragons” live - aka - the most risky of places. There’s a lot of opportunities for things to go wrong, and the impact can be high. Using LaunchDarkly, we can get you a “suit of armor” around your releases and teach you how you can build resilient deployment flows. In this talk, we’ll explore integrating feature flags into an application, and talk through how we can improve the software release process. We’ll introduce you to concepts like user targeting, and workflow building. By the end, you should understand how LaunchDarkly can help spare you the wrath of dragons - and make releasing on Friday nights a lot less scary. 12:30 - 1:30 PM LUNCH 1:30 - 1:55 PM WHAT WE TALK ABOUT WHEN WE TALK ABOUT FEATURE FLAGGING Lucy Voigt | Engineer, LaunchDarkly When most developers think about feature flags they think about an on/off switch to toggle a new feature, or maybe if they're fancy a percentage rollout. But feature flags can be so complex! There are endless possibilities when feature flags aren't just a switch, but provide a user interface for decision points and configuration in code. I think about feature flags as long-lived dynamic configuration handlers, and our team has used them to build a web page using a binary tree of flags, configure rate-limiting per customer, and more. This talk will cover: * How feature flags can be more than a simple on/off switch * Some particularly interesting use cases I've seen for non-traditional feature flags: 1. The aforementioned binary tree of flags 2. Per-account rate limiting configuration At the end of this talk, the audience will understand how feature flags are traditionally used, and how changing the way they think about flagging can make flags more powerful. 2:00 - 2:25 PM BREAK 2:30 - 3:15 PM CLOSING KEYNOTE: INTEGRATION SPOTLIGHT FIRESIDE CHAT Karishma Irani | Head of Product, LaunchDarkly 3:30 - 5:30 PM NETWORKING RECEPTION TICKETS $75 USD LaunchDarkly on Tour ‘22 * San Francisco * Galaxy 2020 LaunchDarkly
