COUNCILS

ASE Councils bring together ASE members with similar professional interests and
areas of expertise, providing a forum for networking, knowledge sharing, provide
guidance to the ASE Board of Directors regarding subspeciality area, help create
education offerings and guidance on standards of care to the Board and
Guidelines and Standards Committee. Choose to be a member of one or more of the
following councils:

 * Cardiovascular Sonography Council
 * Circulation & Vascular Ultrasound Council (CAVUS)
 * Critical Care Echocardiography Council (CCE)
 * Interventional Echocardiography Council (IE)
 * Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease Council (PCHD)
 * Perioperative Echocardiography Council (COPE)

Council membership is open to all ASE members with an interest in the field,
regardless of their area of practice. If you have any questions about ASE
Councils, please contact ASE@ASEcho.org .

Participating in Councils
Membership in ASE’s councils is a complimentary member benefit. You can join one
or more subspecialty councils of interest to you by checking the relevant boxes
on your membership application or by selecting them in your online membership
profile. Most of the information about council activities, announcements,
discussion boards and volunteer opportunities are available in the council’s
community on Connect@ASE, ASE’s online networking site. This site is an ASE
member benefit, and allows council members the opportunity to network, discuss
issues, be aware of deadlines for travel grants and volunteer opportunities, and
be in the know about council initiatives, concerns and news. Members can opt for
daily or weekly digests of news related to the council communities in which they
chose to participate. Simply opt to join the communities of interest to you by
clicking on the “communities” tab on your Connect@ASE homepage.

Council Steering Committee Activities

 * Monthly article(s) in Echo Magazine
 * Provide guidance to the ASE Guidelines and Standards Committee relating to
   Guideline documents and white papers
 * Targeted track at ASE Scientific Sessions
 * Advocacy efforts related to issues affecting specialty area of
   echocardiography
 * Council on Connect@ASE
   * Monthly message from chair
   * Resource library
   * Allows members to discuss issues and network
   * Forum for news and announcements about ASE and council related information

Scientific Sessions Travel Grants

The ASE Foundation funds Council Travel Grants each spring for trainees and
others to support their attendance at the ASE Annual Scientific Sessions. These
grants are part of an ongoing effort by the Foundation and the Council Steering
Committees to encourage individuals in cardiovascular specialties to focus on
the respective echocardiography subspecialty and to recruit enthusiastic new
members to the Councils. By facilitating their attendance at the annual meeting,
these grants provide recipients with a deeper understanding of the imaging
field, and cultivate the development of meaningful mentoring relationships with
established imaging faculty. Learn more here!
