There’s plenty of blame to go around for California’s homelessness crisis, and
Gov. Gavin Newsom and other politicians deserve their fair share.

Regarding “Exclusive: Gavin Newsom calls ban on S.F. homeless sweeps
‘preposterous’ and ‘inhumane’ ” (Politics, SFChronicle.com, Aug. 29):  I suggest
that Gov. Gavin Newsom is plying the age-old political trick of attempting to
shift the blame in order to avoid taking responsibility.

The too-long persistence of the solvable homeless crisis has plenty of blame to
pass around, and Newsom has earned a significant share, including for his failed
10-year plan to end chronic homelessness during his tenure as San Francisco
mayor.
