were noted during the evaluation. Practices such as the setting of varied types
of homework task appropriate to the unit of study and the assignment of
differentiated homework tasks enabling students to learn at their level are also
lauded.

Some subject departments have even developed their own subject-specific homework
and assessment guidelines.

It is now recommended that all departments collaboratively agree their homework
expectations for different year and level groups and that they develop their
written feedback practices. It was reported that homework non-completion by a
small number of students is a recurring difficulty for teachers. Students who
regularly fail to complete their homework are more likely to fall behind their
classmates and thus become de-motivated, to misbehave in class, and eventually
to end up in the disciplinary system.

A positive solution to this difficulty would be the provision of some supervised
homework support as distinct from monitored after-school study for those
