CRIMINAL (ADULT AND YOUTH) The Court deals with charges against adults for most crimes. Youth court deals with charges against young people aged 12 to 17. SMALL CLAIMS The Court conducts mediation and trials to resolve civil lawsuits in small claims court. The new modern design has a fresh look and feel with improved navigation and accessibility for all users. The site is also adaptive for viewing on smartphones and tablets. September 25, 2024 WORKING TOGETHER WITH INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES September 30, 2024 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day when we honour survivors of residential schools, the children who never returned home, and their families and communities. But reconciliation with Indigenous peoples is a year-round commitment for the Provincial Court. This year, the Court accepted the invitation of the Ahousaht and Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations to sit in their communities. September 16, 2024 BC PROVINCIAL COURT WELCOMES INTERNS FOR THE 2024 FALL TERM Since 2007, the Court has partnered with a law school in Canada’s only Judicial Externship Program where final-year students earn academic credits as they spend a term working with judges. The latest group of students has begun their orientation.
