The majority of American Whiskey brands market themself to consumers as craft &
boutique products. However, the reality is that most brands source some or all
of their whiskey from large industrial contract distillers. Several factors
drive the prices:

Legally, all bourbon must be aged in new, charred oak barrels. Because of this
law bourbon producers can not reuse barrels, which puts a stress on the supply
chain & continuously results in barrel shortages.
