Turtle Sands is a new nature resort, nestled behind the dunes of the globally
significant Mon Repos turtle nesting beach near Bundaberg, Queensland. It’s the
only place on Australia’s mainland where you can stay in a villa, glamp or camp
metres from one of nature's most incredible experiences. With easy access to
tours to see turtles nest and hatch from November to March, as well as a host of
other sea and nature experiences year-round, you’ll find an adventure in every
season.

Turtle encounter tours


NATURE'S WONDER ON YOUR DOORSTEP

Witness magnificent turtles nesting and hatching just metres from your
accommodation. Nightly tours run from the Mon Repos Turtle Centre adjacent to
Turtle Sands during the turtle season (November to March).

A GLOBALLY SIGNIFICANT SITE

Mon Repos Beach is home to the largest colony of nesting marine turtles on the
eastern Australian mainland. It’s also home to the largest nesting population of
the endangered loggerhead turtle in the South Pacific and is integral to the
conservation of the species.

A year round destination where pristine beaches  and unique wildlife combine to
deliver adventure, discovery and relaxation, no matter the season.

Explore the surrounding Bargara and Bundaberg region brimming with life and
culinary delights. Hop on board the Lady Musgrave Experience and journey to the
Southern Great Barrier Reef where manta rays play, whales make their journey
through the humpback highway and you can swim with turtles year round.

We’re privileged to act as caretakers of this land, as are our guests who stay
on the site. We take our responsibility to help care, protect and conserve these
species and their habitat very seriously and ask that our guests do too.



Guests staying in the turtle nesting season between October and April are asked
to agree to our Turtle Protection Promise.
