Too much cost saving

Checked in at about 9:00 p.m.
The radiators were turned off and the room was cold. The bed quilt was
lightweight and there were no extra blankets. The walls are thin and I had to
knock on the door of a drunken couple having a shouting match. The morning
shower was lukewarm.

Bed was comfortable and room was large.

Fabulous setting , welcoming and warm

Everything was as expected , cosy room no nasty smells or noises.
The linen was good and the bathroom modern and fresh.
Staff friendly and as I said it did what it said it would unlike my previous
hosts ( hotel )
I will book again

Great service & food, but shame about the accommodation!

Absolutely stunning location with lots of parking. The staff were so friendly,
really helpful and engaged with our little one which was so nice. The service
and food in the main part of the pub/restaurant was incredible! The meal for
dinner was hands down the highlight of our stay and the options for breakfast
were lovely too.

Now for the room itself… really spacious and decorated to a high standard but
unfortunately that’s where the positives end. There was a constant smell of raw
sewage from the bathroom (Room 23) which was absolutely horrendous. There was an
attempt to mask this with a plug in air freshener but we’d had to turn that off
due to our baby being in the room, the smell of the bathroom was making us gag.
The pillows on the bed were the roughest, lumpiest pillows we’ve ever
encountered in a hotel, the lamp on the right hand side of the bed didn’t turn
on and to top it off the room reached 28 degrees at night and it wasn’t even a
particularly warm day so it was really uncomfortable.

Honestly we would definitely come back for a meal again and we honestly couldn’t
fault the staff but we wouldn’t stay overnight again, sorry.

Bad customer service.

I had a booking for the 21st April for one evening.
I always stay here when I visit friends in Kirkburton and never had a problem.
The week before I was due to stay, my friends mum had a bad fall and broke her
hip and as she is 78 years old was not in a good way at all. My friends were
obviously not up for socialising.
I didn't pay for the free cancellation as I had never needed to in the past. So
i contacted head office explaining my unforseen situation and appealed to there
better nature. I would have changed the dates but after a call from head office
I was told that I couldn't cancel or rearrange.
As I have stayed here many times I was quite upset and surprised but rules are
rules, apparently.
On the evening a lady from the hotel called me to find out what time I was
checking in, I explained my situation and she understood and was a little
surprised also.
I did put all this in a review on booking.com but it was denied. I even
appealed, which was also denied.
I have now removed the app from my phone and told them to remove me from the
customer list.
I won't be staying and the foxglove again .
There are other hotels in the area which have a better understanding of people's
circumstances.

Hi Bisto70, We were very sorry yo hear of your situation and hope that your
friends mother is doing better. We fully understand your frustration with the
situations but unfortunately, we ourselves cannot ammend or cancel any hotel
bookings made through 3rd party agents such as booking.com due to GDPR
regulations and their own policies, any amendments are required to be made by
the guest directly. As the booking as made through booking.com any terms and
conditions of their own have to be honored as they are not our terms to alter
and would advise you to contact them to see if they can be of more assistance
due to your circumstance. We do always recommend booking direct through the
hotel or our own Central Reservations office and would also advise booking a
flexible rate for these types of unseen circumstances as any bookings booked
with us and a flexible rate can be cancelled up until 1pm on the day of check in
at the moment. Again I apologize for your experience and understand your not
wanting to visit again but this is something completely out of our hands and
would have been more than willing to solve had the booking been made with us
directly but unfortunately with 3rd party booking agents this is not the case.
Please accept our apology and I hope we can be of more assistance in the future.

Family Gathering

Beyond expectations. A warm and inviting atmosphere with great staff. We
gathered as a family of nine for a meal, looked after from start to finish. Food
was of a high standard and competitively priced. We stayed over night in a
lovely comfortable and exceptionally clean room. Mandy served a fabulous
breakfast. Thank you Mandy on hand when needed👍🏻

Great atmosphere and good food.

We had a lovely lunch there today, served by "Mandy" who attended to our every
need with a very friendly manner. Well done!
The Foxglove has a very friendly atmosphere with noise levels subdued due to the
layout of separate more secluded sections instead of being in one large space.

PERFECT FOR US

We needed just one night here as we were at an event at the nearby Strorthes
Hall Park. It's less than a mile away.
We were allocated room 3 on the ground floor. No view from the window as it's
heavily wooded.
Although it was a standard hotel room, with everything you would expect, it was
made up to a very good standard. The housekeepers are doing a superb job here.
The bed was huge. Bigger than the billed 'double'.
The bathroom was fine. I did find the sink too low.
Breakfast is in the pub and was OK. There is plenty of choice.
All of the staff we met were very nice.
I would return if in this area again.

Clean and relaxing

Room were very clean and comfortable the beds the bathroom was spotless and the
refreshment tray was always full and very clean the staff will give us more
stuff and if u need a iorn just go to the bar and ask it’s no problem thanks for
a really nice stay thanks to u all

Fantastic

Stunning and good value ! We had room 1 which was a HUGE accessible bedroom with
wet room. Didn't have any shower gel or shampoo but I had spare in our toilet
bag so it wasn't an issue. Great zip and link 6 foot bed- mattres incredibly
comfortable and the room was so quiet. A small suggestion that in no way
reflects upon the room, is maybe to have a second chair in the room- my partner
wanted to watch the rugby which meant I spent 2 hours reading on the bed. We ate
in the restaurant and the quality of the food was phenomenal. Everything was
clearly freshly cooked and piping hot. I had the crispy chicken followed by
chicken and pancetta pie, and my partner had the parfait followed by the rib eye
steak- see photos. The dining and bar area felt like a really authentic country
pub. Staff were brilliant throughout our stay and the lady who served us
breakfast was a jolly sort- just what you want in the morning! Breakfast which
was included in the £79 waS outstanding..I expected a small pot of granola but
it came on a dinner plate and was delicious. Loved the addition of chopped mint
to go with the granola and mango etc- really elevated the dish. Had I known how
big it was I wouldn't have ordered pancakes and bacon to follow! My partners
cooked breakfast was huge and delicious too. Local ingredients served well.
Summary- loved the room, the food and the staff. Will be back as soon as we can
!

Great pub/restaurant… beware of noise from other rooms if staying over!

Staff, restaurant and food very good! However the rooms are a different matter…
they were very clean but you can hear guests talking in other rooms very
clearly! We were woke up at 3am by someone’s tv, could hear other people taking
a shower… it was that loud you would have thought it was someone in our
bathroom!
