HELP FOR CHILDREN FROM SINGLE-PARENT HOMES

THE DEATH OF A PARENT IS DEVASTATING. DIVORCE IS HEARTBREAKING. BUT THERAPY CAN
HELP.

Reprieve For Families matches yesomim and children of single-parent homes with
experienced, carefully vetted therapists. We provide funding for the sessions.
And we continue to monitor and follow up with each client for as long as therapy
is needed.

Reprieve cares. It’s as simple as that.

Serving the Jewish communities of Brooklyn and Monroe

ABOUT US

Losing a parent is hard at any age. But for a young child or teen, losing a
parent is everything. The same is true for divorce. No one wants their parents
to divorce at any age. But if it happens when a child is young, the trauma may
affect her or him for a very long time and in many different ways.

Therapy can spell the difference between:

 * Falling apart or coping
 * Depression or gradual acceptance
 * Mental illness or mental health

Yet, starting a course of therapy takes courage. It can feel frightening and
overwhelming to just about anyone. But for a child or teen who has lost a
parent, the fears and concerns multiply exponentially.

It’s understandable that for the single parent, helping his/her children get
therapy may feel like a herculean task. There are so many questions:

 * How do I find the right therapist for my child’s needs?
 * How do I know if therapist and child are a good match?
 * How often should my child go? How often should I go?
 * How will my child get to the therapist’s office?
 * How do I pay for these services?

That’s why Reprieve is here. We understand and we care. And we will take the
burden off you.

All you have to do is make that call to us. We take care of the rest.

OUR TEAM

ROIZY WALDMAN

FOUNDING DIRECTOR

Roizy Waldman is the heart and soul behind Reprieve for Families. Dedicated to
making a difference in the lives of children from single-parent homes, Roizy
founded Reprieve to honor the memory of her beloved brother, Moshe Yidy
Lebowitz.

Moshe Yidy passed away unexpectedly at the young age of 31, leaving behind a
wife and six young children. In his own short life, Moshe Yidy embodied the
spirit of generosity and compassion. He “adopted” a yosem from Bayit Lepleitot
in Jerusalem, demonstrating his aspiration to making a difference in the lives
of others. Each year, he personally bought and wrapped Chanukah gifts not only
for his adopted daughter but also for all the other children in the orphanage.

A writer and translator by trade, Roizy carries on her brother’s legacy through
Reprieve, ensuring that his spirit of kindness and generosity lives on. With her
dedication and commitment to serving those in need, Roizy continues to have a
profound impact in the lives of children from single-parent homes, one therapy
session at a time.

THE PROCESS

So you’ve made the call. What happens next?

Reprieve provides you with your personal “advocate” who schedules a time to meet
with you and your child. This is your chance to discuss any specific
requirements, logistical challenges, general challenges, etc., that you or your
child may face.

Armed with the information you provided, your advocate applies every effort to
secure the best therapist for your needs.

Your advocate schedules the first appointment. Reprieve takes cares of the
therapy costs.

After one or two sessions, your advocate checks in with the child to confirm
that a rapport has been established between child and therapist. If the
chemistry doesn’t work, a new therapist will be suggested. As long as therapy is
ongoing, your advocate continues to check in with you to ensure that all is
going well.
