EXERCISE CARTWHEEL 2022 BEGINS Exercise Cartwheel is a multilateral military-to-military training exercise with the Republic of Fiji Military, Australian, New Zealand, and British forces that builds expeditionary readiness and interoperability by increasing the capacity to face a crisis. U.S. PACIFIC FLEET BAND QUINTET PERFORMS CONCERTS IN FIJI The U.S. Pacific Fleet Band’s woodwind quintet Tradewinds will perform a series of concerts in Suva and on Vanua Levu from September 14 – 21 in support of ongoing cultural exchange between the United States and Fiji. U.S. NAVY SHIP, JACKSON, VISITS FIJI FROM SEPTEMBER 12-15 The United States Navy’s Independence-class littoral combat ship USS JACKSON (LCS 6) arrived in Suva, Fiji on September 12. JACKSON is operating in the Oceania region in support of the Oceania Maritime Support Initiative to enforce Pacific Island nations’ fishery laws. THIRD TRANCHE OF U.S. GOVERNMENT-DONATED COVID-19 VACCINES ARRIVE IN KIRIBATI A total of 10,350 COVID-19 Pfizer vaccines donated by the U.S. government arrived today in Kirimati, Kiribati.
