WELCOME!

 



Established in 1989, Troop 945 of Damascus, Maryland offers opportunities for
boys ages 11-17 to experience the outdoors, learn outdoor skills, provide
community service and grow in leadership through a structured advancement
program. We strive to be a scout-run, scout-led organization as much as
possible. All new scouts are welcome; no previous scouting experience is
required.  Troop 945 serves scouts from various public and private schools in
and around the Damascus area. We have about 35 registered boys on our roster.
Troop meetings are held at the forested Izaak Walton League-Damascus Chapter
(26430 Mullinix Mill Rd 21771), with facilities that include a wooded area for
campouts, group firepit, screened-in cook house and a heated building.  While
access to many parts of our website is granted only to members of our troop (by
login), we would be happy to hear from any interested families (Menu-Contact
Us).

Some highlights of our program include camping, outdoor cooking, backpacking,
canoeing, kayaking, Klondike Derby, Mulch Sale, Merit Badge Weekend and summer
camp.  We also regularly have boys participate in BSA high adventure trips to
Philmont-New Mexico, Seabase-Florida and Northern Tier- Minnesota/Canada. Over
ninety Troop 945 scouts have attained Eagle rank (Menu-Eagle History).

Troop 945's 2023 Mulch Drive is underway. Scouts and scout parents please check
the resources available under the Mulch link at the Menu on the left. Deadlines
for orders is Feb. 27 and delivery is on March 18.
Community supporters - if you do not hear from your scout contact within the
next few days, please feel free to contact the Troop's mulch coordinator

IMPORTANT: MULCH DAY SIGN-UPS

Mulch Delivery Day is Saturday, March 26, 2002.  If you have not already done
so, please sign-up (link below) to help on this day. Participation in Mulch
Delivery is an obligation for all Scouts and one adult; getting all the mulch
delivered in one day is an "All-Hands on Deck activity.  While we did not have
this requirement the last two years due to COVID, we are returning to our roots
so to speak by requesting participation by everyone in the troop.
