Last Friday, Meridian brought motivational speaker, Brandon McCall, to Richmond
Community Schools. With the help of our community supporters, we were able to
reach students to discuss struggles they are facing and offer resources to find
help. We let them know – THEY ARE NOT ALONE! Meridian’s School-Based Health
Clinic staff were on-site following the event to provide support and resources.

Richmond’s Civic Hall Preforming Arts Center, with Teen Truth Speaker Brandon
McCall. He was able to address serious topics about the pressures teens face
today, and how to make positive choices even in the face of adversity. It has
been an honor to bring these conversations to the forefront of our community!

discussion on struggles students face, and he faced as a student.
We have mental health professionals, on site at our School Based Health Clinics,

Health Tips for a Safe and Healthy Holiday
The holidays are a great opportunity to enjoy time with family and friends, to
celebrate life, to be grateful, and to reflect on what’s important. They are
also a time to appreciate – and safeguard – the gift of health.
Tip #3: Food Safety
Food poisoning can ruin even the most festive celebrations. Each year, an
estimated 1 in 6 Americans get sick from eating contaminated food.
Take simple steps to protect your family’s health when you prepare and serve
holiday meals such as:
- Wash your hands and work surfaces before, during, and after preparing food,
and before eating.
- Keep raw meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs separated during preparation.
- Cook food at the right internal temperature to kill harmful germs. Use a food
thermometer to check.
- Refrigerate perishable foods, including leftovers, within two hours of buying
or cooking.

Meridian’s Speaker Series was developed to bring community leaders,
professionals, educators, and the general public together to discuss and
identify issues surrounding community health.
This year, we’re partnering with local schools to bring the Speaker Series event
to Richmond to reach students on topics they are struggling with and let them
know they are not alone. Our Meridian Community Health Speaker Series: School
Assembly brings impactful speakers to the schools in hopes of giving students a
voice and to empower them to make a difference.
This event is a school function and is NOT open to the public.
Through our network of school-based health clinics and on-site mental health
professionals, Meridian is dedicated to providing “whole-person” health for
everyone, at every stage of life.
