top of page Skip to Main Content FRANCO GRIMOLDI CALO * Home * Music * About * Gallery * Contact * * * COMPOSER FOR VISUAL MEDIA MUSIC ABOUT FRANCO Franco Grimoldi Calo is an Argentine American composer for visual media based in Los Angeles. He recently finished a double major in Film and Media Scoring & Games and Interactive Media Scoring at the Berklee College of Music. He is currently working as an intern at Sparks & Shadows as well as a freelance composer His first proper introduction to music was at the age of 5 when he asked his parents for piano lessons after no longer being satisfied with banging on random notes at his grandparents’ house piano. Franco has been playing the piano since and was honored by being selected for a masterclass taught by Alex Lacamoire at Berklee. He is also a violist, which he has played at the Lincoln Center, Jordan Hall, and for the Berklee Film Scoring Student Orchestra when it was conducted by Alan Silvestri in 2022. While he is proficient at both of these instruments, it’s his work in music composition that satisfies him the most. He first started writing music in 2016, although some early improvisations date back to 2012. His style is very melodically driven, and he tends to write mostly for orchestral ensembles. He has worn different hats on audio teams for student video games, with roles ranging from composer all the way to audio director. In addition to games, Franco has worked on short films from Loyola Marymount University and MassArt students. During his studies at Berklee, he received the Outstanding Achievement in Screen Scoring award in the spring of 2024. Franco is also a recipient of the Wachter Fellowship, which greatly helped to support him in Los Angeles as he completed an internship at Sparks & Shadows, Bear McCreary’s studio. Above all else, Franco strives to provide memorable and personally crafted music for every collaboration.
