Ron Thomas is the Managing Director of Strategy Focused Group an international
consulting firm based in Dubai. He is a visiting executive faculty member at the
Global Human Resources Leadership Institute at Howard University School of
Business in Washington, DC. He is also a senior faculty member of the Human
Capital Institute, covering the MENA/Asia Pacific & Africa Region.
Ron is the former CEO of Great Place to Work-Gulf and CHRO of Al Raha Group,
based in Riyadh. He holds certifications from HCI as Global Human Capital
Strategist (GHCS), Master Human Capital Strategist (MHCS), and Strategic
Workforce Planner (SWP) as well as New York University. Prior to consulting, he
worked in senior level roles for IBM, Martha Stewart Living, Xerox HR Services
[HR Consulting] in the US.
He has been identified as one of the top 5 HR/Leadership thinkers in the Middle
East by CIPD.  He received the Outstanding Leadership Award for Global HR
Excellence at the World Human Resources Development Congress in Mumbai, and was
named as one of the 50 Most Talented Global HR Leaders in Asia. As a consultant

BILL CRAIB

Senior Vice President of Enterprise Learning

Bill Craib is a Senior Faculty Member at the Human Capital Institute and after
serving in multiple executive roles over a 12-year tenure at HCI has been the
Senior Vice President of Enterprise Learning since 2013. In this capacity, Bill
has had the great pleasure to work with dozens of HCI clients to bring Human
Capital Institute certifications and learning programs on site. Bill is also the
Founder and Managing Principal of Talent Agility Partners, a small consulting
firm focused on helping organizations keep up with the pace of change through
talent strategies. Bill is a frequent emcee, moderator, and keynote speaker at a
variety of industry conferences hosted by HCI as well as other organizations.
Prior to joining the Human Capital Institute in 2005, Bill was a founding member
of AIRS, a recruitment training and services company, and was the initial
primary author of that organization’s groundbreaking Internet search curriculum.
Before finding his way into the world of strategic talent management, Bill Craib
was a journalist. A graduate of the Newhouse School of Public Communications at
Syracuse University, Bill has worked for a variety of outlets in radio,
newspaper, and television including ESPN and the Rocky Mountain News.
When he isn’t traveling, Bill can be found in the hills of Central Vermont with
his wife and nine-year-old son.

MARK HACKER

Faculty

Mark Hacker is the managing director at Alta Leadership Group, a boutique
consultancy based in Denver, Colorado that provides leadership development,
performance management, and executive-level coaching services to clients
throughout the United States.

Mark’s work as an HCI faculty member includes teaching five different
courses—Analytics for Talent Management (ATM); Human Capital Strategist (HCS);
HR Business Partner (HRBP); Performance Management Innovation (PMI); and
Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP). He has also worked with several private
clients to deliver customized HCI courses.

His current consulting work includes coaching individuals on career management,
effective leadership approaches, and executive transitions. Mark works with
teams to help them implement strengths-based leadership practices. He also
provides services to organizations to help develop high potential leaders,
design talent management strategies and improve the performance of leaders at
all levels.

Mark retired from Walmart after a successful 22-year career in several senior
leadership roles. During his time at Walmart, the company grew annual sales from
$30 billion to $445 billion and became a Fortune 1 company. Mark’s experience
ranged from running a department at headquarters to overseeing HR operations for
a region with 20,000 employees in 18 Western states. Before joining Walmart,
Mark spent several years in various retail operations positions.

He has also taught graduate-level courses at the University of Denver. Subjects
include Leadership Development, Strategic Workforce Planning, Talent Management,
Developing Human Capital, Consulting in Human Resources, and Current Issues in
Human Resources. Mark’s passion is helping individuals, teams, and organizations
to reach their potential.

SUSAN DEFAZIO

Faculty

Susan DeFazio is the founder of Be Future Ready Today and has nearly 30 years of
experience in workforce management and people strategy. Susan believes that
leaders and practitioners must overcome siloed behavior and challenge habitual
thinking to make a real difference, and her development and coaching services
support these outcomes. Susan has held executive and senior leadership positions
responsible for large scale international recruiting operations, managed
services and strategic CRM portfolios. Latterly she broadened her expertise to
advising organisations on how to operationalise their strategic workforce
planning efforts and strengthen human capital related capabilities. Having
previously written and published material on Future-Proofing Your Workforce,
Building Strategic Workforce Capability, and Using Business Intelligence to
Optimise Strategic Workforce Planning, Susan is currently working on a
collection of World of Work themed aids designed to guide practitioners and
simplify the complex. Susan was born in Canada, raised in Scotland, and now
lives in London. She has participated in a number of programs at Henley Business
School, INSEAD Business School, Cranfield University, London Business School,
Gallup Clifton StrengthsFinder Coaching and is certified in Facilitating
and Designing Workshops with the Lego® Serious Play Method®.
