WHITE THINGS TONSILS, HOW TONSIL STONES FORM?

DEFINITION

It refers to small yellow grains as large as rice grains formed by agglomeration
of food residues and bacteria in small holes in the tonsils or tonsils. It’s
called a rock, but most of it’s not as hard as a rock. Although teeth and tongue
conditions are clean, they have bad breath, and if something like a grain of
rice appears when you vomit badly while brushing your teeth, you can be
suspicious.


CAUSE

The most common cause is chronic tonsillitis. Frequent tonsillitis can cause
small holes in the tonsils, called tonsils. When the leftovers are trapped in
this enlarged hole, it becomes an environment where bacteria can reproduce well,
and when bacteria gather and form small grains, it becomes tonsil. People with
bad mouth hygiene or post-blue, whose runny nose falls behind their neck due to
rhinitis or sinusitis, tend to develop tonsils because they are conditions that
bacteria tend to multiply in the tonsils.


SYMPTOMS

You may stay without any symptoms, but you usually have bad breath, and yellow
grains such as rice come out of your mouth brushing your teeth. When you have a
sore throat or swallow saliva, you may feel like something is stuck in your
throat, itching, or sore ears.


DIAGNOSIS/EXAMINATION

Atotolaryngological oral examination shows yellow (one-sided stone) on either
side of Adam’s apple. This may be accompanied by findings of tonsillitis. The
oral cavity and pharynx are examined, and pharyngeal endoscopy is performed.


TREATMENT

Tonsil stones can come out on their own and can be treated to remove them with
aspiration, but can occur again after some time. Laser or nitric acid can be
treated with the same drug to block holes in the tonsils, but the resection of
the tonsils, which remove the tonsils themselves, is the most reliable method.
All tonsils do not require tonsil resection, and the effectiveness of surgery
and risk of complications should be considered. If you have tonsillitis that
requires antibiotic treatment more than five to six times a year, or if you have
tonsillitis more than three times a year, it is recommended to have tonsil
resection. Furthermore, surgery may be necessary if problems such as pain, bad
breath, foreign body sensation, or pain persist.
