Our purpose is to provide an environment which encourages local emerging, professional and hobby artists, and members of the public to network, develop their skills and contribute to art within the community. The Society has grown to become one of the major art societies in the City of Casey and the surrounding Southeast region. Painting demonstrations, workshops and exhibitions are held in the Function Room at the historic Old Cheese Factory, 34 Homestead Road, Berwick, throughout the year, with the exception of public and Christmas holidays. We have monthly demonstrations by visiting professional artists and everyone is invited to attend. Please see the link for upcoming artists and entry fees. Our Mission Statement: The mission of the Berwick Artists Society is to foster all forms of visual art by offering attractive and beneficial activities that will enhance artistic knowledge, skills and opportunities within a mutually supportive and strong social environment. NEWS Thursdays see the Painting and Portrait Groups bubbling with warmth and laughter, and we have welcomed a number of new members. The Function Room at the Old Cheese Factory is always alive with conversation and different styles of painting. Our Demonstration Days and Nights have been enjoyed by all those who attended, Our 30 Year Anniversary cake was cut at last September’s AGM – pictured at right with Society members and current President Rosemary Stayner – now we’re moving on to our 40th! Wow.. We will again be holding regular Workshops with professional artists in 2023, bookings essential, and the May workshop with Craig Penny was a huge success, with all attendees producing some brilliant work under Craig’s instruction. Also “internal” Workshops during Thursday painting days are happening, along with our monthly Demonstrations, now held during the day until November. Further information on this website. An exhibition and sale of our members’ work was held at the Cranbourne Library from May 29th to June 19th, as part of the city of Casey’s Winter Arts Festival. Our artists were present to work on their paintings and spread the word about our Society. We hope everyone who came along enjoyed our display and thank you all for voting for your favourite painting. The winner of the People’s Choice Award was Quinton Baldwin, for his work “Kitty Miller Bay”. All good wishes for 2023 and happy painting! BERWICK ARTISTS SOCIETY INC.
