Polish is an Indo-European language of the West Slavic language group, which has
the greatest number of speakers. Polish has over 40 million speakers with most
residing in Poland. It is also spoken as a second language in parts of the Czech
Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Belarus and the Ukraine. Unlike Russian, Polish

SCANDINAVIAN

Scandinavia is a geographical region centred on the Scandinavian Peninsula in
Northern Europe. It consists of the kingdoms of Norway, Sweden and Denmark
(including the Danish Faroe Islands and Greenland), as well as also generally
including Finland and Iceland. Swedish, Danish and Norwegian, Icelandic and
Faroese are classed as North Germanic languages and are part of the
Indo-European language group. They can also be sub-divided into continental
(Swedish, Danish, Norwegian) and insular (Faroese, Icelandic) Scandinavian
language groups. Finnish, spoken by over 5 million people worldwide is from an
entirely separate origin despite its geographical proximity to the other
Scandinavian countries and is part of the Finno-Ugric language group, more
closely related to Estonian and also distantly to Hungarian.

Sweden is the largest of the Scandinavian countries with a population of 9.9
million people and borders with Norway and Finland. Sweden became a member of
the European Union in 1994 but rejected the Euro (EUR) in a popular vote and
maintained its own currency, the Swedish Krona (SEK). Sweden’s engineering
sector accounts for 20% of output and exports. Telecommunications, the
automotive industry and the pharmaceutical industries are of significant
importance to Sweden. Other well-known companies to be found in the country
include Volvo, Sony Ericsson and IKEA.

Norway is on the western most edge of Northern Europe and is a very wealthy
country with large oil reserves, being the eleventh largest oil exporter in the
world. It is the only country in the Nordic region not to have joined the EU.
Norway has rich resources of gas, hydropower, fish, forests, and minerals. Other
main industries include food processing, shipbuilding, metals, chemicals,
mining, fishing and pulp and paper products. Norway just as the other Nordic
countries has a highly developed welfare system. Well-known Norwegian brands and
companies include Statoil, Nordea Bank, Kraft foods and Telenor. Famous
Norwegians include Henrik Ibsen, Morten Harket, Roald Amundsen, Gerhard Hansen
and John Arne Riise.

Denmark, like the rest of Scandinavia has an above average standard of living in
Europe with a GDP per capita almost as high as that of the USA. Denmark has also
not adopted the Euro as its currency. Denmark is a pioneer in the use of
renewable energy and has gone from being 99% dependent on foreign oil to being
energy self-sufficient. It is a net exporter and home to a lot of specialised
industry particularly in the chemical, IT, engineering and electronics sectors.
It has many multi-national companies including, Maersk, Danfoss, Lego, Bang &
Olufsen and Carlsberg. Famous Danes include Brigitte Nielsen, Viggo Mortensen,
Georg Jensen, Arnold Peter Møller, Ole Kirk Christiansen and Hans Christian
Andersen.

standard of living. It also has high levels of manufacturing and technology and
is a net exporter. Major industries in Finland are chemicals, paper and pulp,

What our customers say…

We have been working with UK Tech Trans Ltd. since 2007 and we are very happy
with the exceptional service we have been given. UK Tech Trans Ltd work in a
professional manner translating out technical manuals and quite often on an
extremely tight deadline. The Project Manages are helpful and take pride in
returning a Manual that has been formatted and ready to print on an agreed
deadline. I therefore recommend UK Tech Trans Ltd as an experienced translation
agency offering a reliable and professional service.

MCCLOSKEY INTERNATIONAL

Thank you for all the recently translated files. I have received all the CDs,
and I am now starting to print the manuals. Everything looks great!
A huge thanks to all the team, - another project completed on time and of high
quality. I simply have to press 'print'.

ANDY DAVIS / KLIKLOK-WOODMAN

I would just like to say that it has been very easy working with you and you
have been incredibly efficient and responsive.  We will send out these
Portuguese documents to our clients.

JACKIE RAYNER / CHKS (PART OF CAPITA HEALTHCARE DECISIONS)

I’ve been working with UK Techtrans Ltd. since 2002 and my predecessor before
that, so we’ve been cooperating for some 15-20 years now. I’ve never experienced
any problems caused by the distance between the translation bureau in England
and my company in Denmark. We communicate through emails: I send my material to
the Bureau for quoting, receive a quotation, instruct the bureau to go ahead,
and a few days later I have my translated materials back. It is so easy and
convenient. The company is highly professional and uses mother-tongue
translators with technical insight, which has high priority for me. I have no
trouble recoommending this company to others; I’m constantly endorsing it to my
colleagues, when they need to have translations done professionally.

CINDY TOFT / ALFA LAVAL

Thanks again for helping us out with these additions, you guys really are head
and shoulders above our last translation company, and we were with them for
years!

BARRY GRUBB / INTERNATIONAL TOBACCO MACHINERY (UK) LTD

The demands of our customer have been very specific, requiring both Russian and
English text on the same (often complex) drawings, and our expectations have
been exceeded with the quality of the documentation returned. We have found the
DTP and formatting to be of an exceptional quality.

Tectrans will always contact us with any questions prior to translation to
ensure correct understanding so that documentation is delivered to us right
first time. We have developed an effective working relationship with Tectrans,
who we now consider our go-to company for Russian translations.
