The FedEx Small Business Grants Program started in 2012 (formerly, the FedEx Small Business Grant Contest) to award U.S.-based small businesses with grants and prizes to enhance their businesses. What are the 2024 program dates? The 2024 program will begin accepting applications on March 1, 2024, at 12pm ET (Noon). The application deadline is 12pm ET (Noon) on April 1, 2024. Grant recipients will be announced May 16, 2024. I was contacted via social media from someone claiming to be from FedEx advising I won a grant and requesting money to receive the grant. Is this a scam? Yes, that is a scam. Please report the offenders as spam through the social platform’s spam reporting process. FedEx does not request money in advance from a business in order to receive a grant. We also do not notify potential winners via any social media messaging platform. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Who may apply for the U.S. FedEx Small Business Grants Program? Existing FedEx customers with a valid shipping account that has been open for at least 6 months, have fewer than 99 employees, and who, as of the start of the application period, have been actively shipping with FedEx may apply. Owners and part-time employees are considered employees. All additional eligibility requirements are available in the Official Rules. Don’t have an account? Open one here and be ready to apply when the grants program returns. Do I need to be shipping with FedEx in my business to apply? Yes, using your FedEx business account to ship on behalf of your small business is a requirement to apply. Is a non-profit eligible to apply? Non-profits are not eligible to apply to this grants program. Additionally, for-profit businesses whose primary use of profits is donation-based are excluded from eligibility. Non-profits may review grant opportunities at the non-profit funding section of the FedEx Cares website. Are franchised, direct seller/independent consultant/pyramid marketing business models, or car services eligible to apply? No, these business types are not eligible to apply. Examples of direct seller/independent consultant/pyramid marketing businesses are Mary Kay, Rodan + Fields, doTERRA, Beautycounter, Young Living, Color Street, etc. Examples of franchised businesses are any businesses where you are not the creator of the brand (McDonald’s, Budget Blinds, Chick-fil-A, RE/MAX Realty, etc.). Car service examples include Uber, Lyft, or other similar passenger transportation services. Are shipping companies, logistics or delivery services, FedEx Authorized Ship Centers, commercial printers, or other competitive related businesses eligible to apply? No, any business that is in direct competition with FedEx shipping, delivery or printing services is not eligible. Are previous grant recipients involved in other businesses eligible to apply? No, businesses with an owner or investor who was an owner or investor of a past FedEx small business grant recipient are not eligible. Are previous finalists for a FedEx small business grant eligible to apply? Yes, past finalists are eligible to apply again as long as they were not previously selected as a grant recipient. Are FedEx Small and Medium Customer Advisory Board (formerly Entrepreneur Advisory Board) members eligible to apply? No, current and past members are not eligible. PRIZES How many grants will be awarded? There will be 10 recipients in total with one grand prize recipient receiving a $50,000 grant in the form of a check and the remaining nine recipients each receiving a $20,000 grant in the form of a check. Each recipient will also receive a $500 print credit at FedEx Office. There are up to 6 additional prizes each recipient will receive as outlined in the Official Rules. Up to 100 additional businesses will also be selected as Honorable Mentions and will receive a $300 voucher from My FedEx Rewards. Are the grants a loan? No, the grants are not loans and do not need to be repaid. HOW TO APPLY How do I apply to the grants program? To apply to the FedEx Small Business Grants Program, go to fedex.com/smallbusinessgrants and follow the instructions on the page. Can I start my application and finish it later? No, you will not be able to start the application and finish it at a later time. It is recommended that you prepare your answers and video ahead of time to ensure you provide appropriate responses to the questions. How will I know if my application has been received? Upon completion of your application, you should receive a message on screen of, “Thank you for your application.” You’ll also receive a confirmation email that your application has been received (be sure to check your spam folder in case it accidentally routes there). I’m having trouble submitting my application and believe that I have answered all required fields. How can I submit my application? The most common reason an application fails to submit is due to a required field not being answered or completed. All required fields will be marked with an asterisk. Most often the missing required field is an upload of the business logo. Make sure a photo has been uploaded in that field and that the photo upload did not fail. Can I redo my application after it has been submitted or can someone make an edit for me? Only 1 application per business is allowed. Multiple applications for the same business are not allowed. If more than one application is submitted for the same business, the newest one will be kept, and all others will be removed. Edits cannot be made to applications once submitted. I was having internet problems when the application period expired (the application site was not responding). Can I still submit my application? We are not able to accept applications after the posted deadline. Will applications be publicly visible for anyone to see? No, applications will not be made public and will only be visible by FedEx. SELECTING RECIPIENTS How will the grant recipients be selected? A selection committee within FedEx will select the final 10 recipients from the pool of applicants using the following elements: • Clear, compelling, and engaging application answers and review of required video. • Answers to all application questions. • Review of social media sites, including all posts and/or images by the business and/or the business owner(s). • Reviews of the business product/service available online through review sites. • Website ease of navigation, ease of ordering services or products (if applicable), product availability (in stock or not, if applicable). • How well the applicant’s brand aligns with the FedEx brand. • Whether the small business owner is prepared to be a Small Business Ambassador and/or potential member for the FedEx Small and Medium Customer Advisory Board. Extra credit will be given for those entrants exhibiting any of the following elements: • Unique or innovative product or service offering. • Sustainability/environmentally friendly business, product, or business practices. • Business gives back to community or the environment. •Those selected to receive a grant will be notified via phone and/or email from FedEx on or by May 16, 2024. • FedEx may also request a background check on business owners to remain in consideration for receiving a grant and will be notified of this request from smallbusinessgrants@fedex.com. Requests must be fulfilled within 48 hours to remain in consideration. • Up to 100 additional businesses may be selected to receive a $300 voucher from My FedEx Rewards and will be notified via email by May 16, 2024.
