2024 WORKERS FOR THE BLIND EVENTS

If you would like to attend a luncheon you must contact Julie Collins at
260-241-0770 two weeks prior to the event so transportation and meal
preparations can be made.

 * May 15, Noon-2PM, Membership meeting, Calvary United Methodist on Winchester
   Road.
 * June 19 Noon-2PM, Membership meeting, Our Lady of Good Hope on Saint Joe
   Road.
 * July 17, Noon-2PM, Membership meeting, St. Jude’s on Randalia.
 * August 21, Noon-2PM, Summer picnic, David Hefner Pavilion at St. Mary’s.
 * September 18, Noon-2PM, Membership meeting, St. Joe Community Church on North
   Anthony.

To: ALL WORKERS FOR THE BLIND MEMBERS, PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS
BOARD MEETINGS: We continue to meet monthly at the Sunrise Cafe on the first
Wednesday of the month at 11:30 A.M. to discuss our finances, other issues of
interest and the prospect of future outings and activities.

If you have issues that you believe we should address, or any questions about
what is going on, please contact any Board member. Also, we need people to step
up and run for Board or Officer positions. Please feel free to call me at any
time (9:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M.) at (260) 438-9216.

OUR STORY….

The Indiana Association of Workers for the Blind (IAWB) was founded on December
12, 1912 in Indianapolis. Its first president was W. E. Metcalf. The stated
purpose of the organization was advocacy for the blind in Indiana. It has since
evolved to help all persons who are suffering from significant visual impairment
(legally blind) to come together and discuss issues of common significance and
to provide social activities geared for such persons.

Currently the Fort Wayne Chapter of the Workers conducts a monthly luncheon
meeting for all members, annual indoor summer picnic and annual Christmas
dinner.


OUR MISSION

To assist all persons who are suffering from significant visual impairment in
coming together for the purpose of discussing issues of common significance and
to provide ongoing social activities for members and charitable assistance where
needed.
