If you are a technology specialist with responsibility for your website
security, then this workshop is for you.


ABOUT THIS EVENT

Frustrated with the many serious technical failings in commodity cloud WAF
services? Want to know how to design, and implement the right security layer to
protect your website? Then, this is the event for you.

The current crop of cloud-based Web Application Firewall services appear to be
sold to tick a box, rather then deliver real security. Serious technical
failings include:

 * Hard coded inspection packet length limit – easily bypassed by the attacker
   just padding the attack
 * Not inspecting outbound traffic – sometimes the best place to spot an attack
 * Allowing outbound error messages from the web server – giving an attacker
   information necessary to iterate an attack
 * Administration interfaces that encourage you to disable groups of signatures
   and lower your security protection

This workshop helps you understand how to do a WAF properly, whether you intend
to build and manage yourself or outsource to specialists like ECSC. ECSC design
workshops are tailored to the participants on the day. We conduct a pre-event
scoping session for each organisation joining to ensure the content will be
directly relevant for your web technology choices.

We limit places to ensure your challenges can be understood, and the information
you need included.

Attendees will leave the session with practical advice, tailored to their
organisation, including sensible recommendations to implement, today, this week,
this month, and this year.



YOUR HOST ON THE DAY

Ian Mann is the Founder and CEO of ECSC Group plc. He has over two decades
experience in the cyber security sector, having previously worked as an adviser
for GCHQ, and established a Cisco Networking Academy for Dixons City Technology
College prior to founding ECSC in 2000.

Ian’s professional certifications have included CISSP, PCI QSA, and ISO Lead
Auditor, and he holds a B.Eng. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the
University of Nottingham, and an MBA from the Open University.

Ian will be joined on the day by selected experts from within ECSC with
extensive experience of helping people like you. In addition, the consultant(s)
that conduct your pre-scoping with you will be in attendance.
