culture, Swahili poetry, and Freestyle scholar. He mostly uses his music to
uplift the society around him.




BABUSHE

Babushe alias Joseph Maina is a hero hailing from Nakuru County who champions
for Kenya as a hub for culture, art, and creativity.




BEAT AIR POLLUTION

Bankslave’s mural depicting the air pollution crisis and hope for the future
where everyone breathes clean air at UNEA6.




RAHA FEST

Raha Fest is a vibrant convergence of joy, music and culture striving to unite
people from backgrounds, fostering connections and shared passions.




CLEAN AIR

To combat climate change and improve the quality of breathable air, local-based
action is essential – especially those embedded in the needs and commitments of
the local actors.

workspaces throughout Europe. Kasada has partnered with Wojo to offer 3 work
offers combined with hotel services (bar, restaurant, fitness, spa).




E-SIR

E-sir was a Kenyan hip-hop artist who tragically died in a car accident along
the Nairobi-Nakuru highway in 2003. He is often recognized as among the
pioneering hip-hop artists in Kenya. His famous songs include Boomba Train,
Kamata, and Moss Moss, among others.




LADY JAYDEE

Lady Jaydee is one of the best female RnB singers in East Africa. At one point,
she wore the crown of the ‘Queen of Bongo Flava’.




BASKETBALL COURT

Bankslave painted Jericho’s Camp Toyoyo basketball court. The court design draws
inspiration from the shield of the Kenyan flag. The shield’s formation cuts
across the court to symbolize the quest by the Kenyan people to defend and
protect our heritage.




VIBE OF THE CITY

The vibe of the City (Nairobi Festival) is an annual festival birthed by the
City’s incumbent Governor, Johnson Sakaja, to enhance the vibrancy of the city,
provide a platform for Nairobi youth to showcase abundant talent, and support
the creative arts.




PATRICE LUMUMBA

Patrice Emery Lumumba was a pan-Africanist who played a vital role in
transforming Congo into an independent republic from the Belgian colonial rule.
He served as the first prime minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo from
June to September 1960.




NAIROBI CITY

Nairobi City is the capital of Kenya. The city derives its name from a Maasai
word meaning “Place of cool waters”. Nairobi is the only capital city in the
world with a national park. Nairobi National Park covers 117 square kilometres
and is home to animals such as lion, rhinos, giraffes, etc.




LUPITA NYONG’O

Mural of the Academy award-winning actress, Lupita Nyong’o. She is a great
inspiration to rising actresses – especially those of skin of color. She is best
known for her roles in ‘Black Panther’ and ’12 Years A Slave’ and famous quote
“No matter where you are from your dreams are valid.”




MICHAEL K. WILLIAMS

A graffiti mural of the late American actor, Michael K. Williams. Michael is
known for his roles in the HBO series, The Wire (as Little Omar) and Boardwalk
Empire (as Albert “Chalky” White).






DEDAN KIMATHI

Dedan Kimathi was a heroic and revolutionary leader who fought against the
British colonial regime in Kenya in the 1950s. He led Kenya’s independence
movement, Mau Mau Uprising, as a freedom fighter by serving as a senior military
and spiritual leader.




TUNAPANDA INSTITUTE

Tunapanda Institute is a registered not-for-profit organization based in Kibera
that teaches young people digital skills to become lifelong learners, earners,
and problem-solvers.




PAPA SHIRANDULA

In memory of the late comedian entertainer, Papa Shirandula. He acted as a
stereotypical security guard on the self-titled show on local TV station.




GEORGE FLOYD

Bankslave did a mural in Kibera Slums, Nairobi in solidarity with protestors who
took to the streets against the racial killing of George Floyd by an American
police officer.




ELIUD KIPCHOGE

Eliud Kipchoge is a Kenyan long-distance runner who has won multiple medals
including 2 Olympic Championships and 1 World Championship. He is the first man
to run a marathon in under 2 hours in the infamous INEOS 1:59 Challenge.








KHALIGRAPH & NAMELESS

Bankslave’s mural of musicians Nameless and Khaligraph Jones on Megarider
(remix) music video. The song was written & performed by Nameless and Khaligraph
Jones.








NIPSEY HUSSLE

Bankslave’s mural to celebrate the life of the late American rapper,
entrepreneur, and activist Nipsey Hussle, who was fatally shot and died of the
wounds in Carlifonia on 31st March 2019.




NAIROBI LOVE

Bankslave’s mural, adorning the walls of a café nestled in Nairobi, vividly
represents the city’s rich and multifaceted culture. The artwork captures the
essence of Nairobi’s bustling streets, matatu culture, and diverse communities
through intricate strokes and vibrant colors.




MAMI WATA

A mural by Bankslave depicting Mami Wata (Mother of Water), a water spirit
venerated in West, Central, and Southern Africa and the Afro-American diaspora.
The water deity is understood by Africans to be a foreign spirit.




CITY IN THE SUN

The hustle and bustle of the always-buzzing city of Nairobi during the day.
People are always on the moving – walking on foot, boarding trains, airplanes,
motorbikes, or matatus.




LEND A HAND TO MEND A HEART

A heart mural by Bankslave. The mural, with two young ladies holding on both
sides, is written: “Lend a hand to mend a heart.”




KENYAN CHILD

Bankslave’s mural of a child’s face covered in the colors of the Kenyan flag.
This mural signifies the bright future of the patriotic younger generation of
Kenyans.




GARISSA UNIVERSITY ATTACK

Bankslave and Spray Uzi Crew’s mural dedicated to the 147 lives that were lost
in 2015 at Garissa University as a result of a horror terror attack by
al-Shabab.




SANPAKU VISION

Bankslave’s mural raises awareness about sanpaku eyes, a peculiar effect caused
by the whites of the eyes showing above or below the iris. For sanpakus, the
white of the eyes (sclera) only shows on the left and right, however, some
people have visible whites above and/or below.




MZEE MARUGE

Bankslave’s mural of Mzee Kimani Maruge, who made headlines in Kenya for
becoming the world’s oldest person to enroll in primary school at 84. He
attended Kapkenduiywo Primary School (Eldoret).




MORAN

Bankslave’s mural of a Moran, the young men of the Maasai community, often from
the ages of 14 to 30, who are trained as warriors to protect society. They are
considered to be the bearers of the community.






CODEBUS AFRICA

CodeBus Africa is a 100-day adventure into creative technology and youth
empowerment led by Aalto University. It brings together African and Finnish
innovators in tech and education to organize creative coding workshops for
youths in African countries.

10TH STREET RESTAURANT

Bankslave’s mural at 10th Street restaurant in Nyali. The restaurant serves
finger-licking delicacies and provides serene working space and top-notch
entertainment.






NAFSI ZETU

Nafsi Zetu is a Swahili phrase that loosely translates to “Our spirits/souls.”
Nafsi zetu za kiafrika zatamba magharibi, mashariki, kaskazini, kusini. Salimia
muafrika mwenzako.




HER SOIL

In celebration of black women worldwide. Her soil breeds color (melanin). Her
soil protects her skin. Her soil is her home. She shines on her soil.




MOHAMED ALI

Bankslave’s mural of the legendary American boxer and activist Mohamed Ali. Ali
is often regarded as the greatest boxer of all time. He used his influence to
speak against racism and the anti-Islam narrative in America.




WANGARI MAATHAI & BOB MARLEY

Bankslave’s mural depiction of Wangari Maathai, a Nobel Peace Prize winner known
for her contributions to sustainable development, democracy, and peace,
alongside Bob Marley, a renowned reggae musician.
