AIRCRAFT NOISE Those who complain that someone should do something about aircraft noise in Longmont must be newcomers who don’t know about the prior lawsuit against the skydiving operator. The people who filed that suit lost and were forced to pay the amount of the winner’s attorney’s fees. … Those newcomers should pool their money and feel free to try again. AVIATION HARMS ENVIRONMENT Talking to pilots about the negative impact of their industry on the environment is like beating a dead horse. They will never move from their position. The simple fact is aviation fuel, specifically avgas, now makes up the largest remaining aggregate source of lead emissions to air in the United States, according to the EPA. And not to be overlooked, aviation is the main human source of ozone, like we need more of that in the Front Range. The noise impact is bad enough. However, factoring the other environmental negative impacts of aviation, aviation is just a dirty industry that needs to admit to it and correct its pollution problems. FOX HILL FIREWORKS Regarding the fireworks at Fox Hill: I am pleased with that location. I am unable to be out at night, I only live about a mile away from Fox Hill, and last year I was able to sit in my bedroom and watch the aerial displays out my window. What a treat that was. Thank you, Fox Hill. TABOR ARTICLE Thank you for choosing to publish an article about the TABOR refund which attempts to inform us of the truth rather than the typical one-sided spin article. We need more of this type of reporting in the future. GEORGE WILL I don’t think he knows it, but I think George Will is in danger of being dropped by several newspapers, because he’s become so cynical. He just doesn’t make political sense anymore.
